Changed my oil today to the Joe Gibbs LS motor specific "LS30" which has Zinc adder for better protection on cammed, or blower cars which is generating higher heat.

Was quite some threads on oil. The brands, type and weight for the LS motors. I even went into the Vette forum, where it was quite intense with a lot of fiqures, ratios and etc such.

Yup, a lot of power emotion also ...lol

So good thought, is that it should be a step better than the Mobile1 oil I was using, which was by everything I read, good also.

Now for my bummer news.... I was having a clunk clunk or a pop pop noise, coming from the suspension. In reading via other threads, was sure it was my Pfadt adjustable solid heim joint sway bar links being a bad design or something. (others also having the same noise with heim joint links) -turns out the link bolts were loose on both sides of the front sway. Easy fix and all quiet! (must have happened when Scott and I spun out in the GG Auto Cross)

HOWEVER, while up on the rack, we were looking at camaro underside, headers, pipes and suspension in general, and discovered that my $1800 1200hp rated axles, the boots are sheared open! There is no way in hell I ever would have known this if was not for the sway bar link bolts coming loose causing me to poke around! Shame on me!

Emailed Andy at Livernois Motorsports, he said the Driveshaft Shop is good to work with, and checking for possible warranty assistance.

So, not driving her now until they are changed.

So i ran into some trouble with a parking garage pillar that resulted in some pretty deep scrapes and small dent just in front of my driver's side rear wheel... If anyone is knowledgeable of where to go for paint/body shop in Des Moines I would be very grateful.

Chathen613,

I have seen some outstanding work done by Billion Collision Center of Des Moines (the old Holmes Honda shop). Talk to Dan the shop Manager (515)645-6066, they are located at 2094 NW 114th Street, Clive, Ia. They have just done a rear quarter repair on my girlfriend's Scion, and it came out great. I'm currently having them re-paint my hide-a-way headlight covers on my 2010 2lt/rs Camaro, to match my new heritage grill.

Tell Dan that Bob Hays told you to see him.

for your accident, Good fixing,
Bob

Just got our plaques done for next weeks show. This is one of 24 plaques including 3 decade based classes so those with newer cars have a better chance than most cars and best in show, and club choice trophies.

For the Cedar Rapidians looking for a copy of Camaro Now...Barnes and Noble did have 6 copies and all Wal-mart locations appear to have them as well.

To the gentleman in the IOM ZL1 Convertible this afternoon that helped make my day with a quick jaunt down 100...thank you. Your car sounded great...and just so you know - I let off.

Well....when I have something that failed, I always upgrade something else. Starting next Wednesday, arrangements to pull my DSS axles, to send them back for checking the CV joint, and then re-booting them.

So also, now going to improve the last part of the drivetrain while at it... Carbon Fiber one piece DSS driveshaft. DSS guys said the weight savings pretty significant. Then also an underbody frame connector from Hotchkiss, (I like they way theirs connects up with the cradle)

Also, for those that missed last time..... Coffee/doughnuts at Karl's, their last one is next Saturday the 12th. Always a decent turnout of cars and people. I will miss it due to my daughters wedding the Friday night before, and then family breakfast that Saturday morning.

Guys, I'm out of the family :(

I traded in for a new Volt.

For my commute from IF to Grundy it just made sense. Plus I'm tired of paying in on taxes...

Anyways, see you all in 2016 for Gen 6 I hope.

PS - avoid Karl's.
