why does it make such a clunky noise when putting the clutch in

got in in first gear, at like 1500 rpms or something, like when pulling up to a stop sign, put the clutch in and it makes a big clunking noise.

guy at the dealership that washed it said everyone he has drove has been like that. wtf, my challenger never did that.

I believe almost all the TR trannies have that characteristic to them. It's normal.

It may have something to do with performance and quicker, more solid shifts for enthusiasts that appreciate such things.

Mine does it also, but I am not worried about it. It does make you feel like the transmission is about to fall out of it though. Not to jack this thread, but when you guys are in idle at a stop in the LS3 M6, does your car have a bit of a shake to it? I am guessing this is just the V-8 rumbling and is normal. The tachometer also jumps just a bit.

yes, mine has a little shake to it as well. I suspect it's becuase of the relatively large cam it has. I actually like it, makes me feel like I have a hot rod. Oh wait... I do have a hot rod!

Mine does this also. RPMs seem to jump or fall 100 or so. I don't think it's the cam. It would be consistent if it was the cam.

Mine also makes the clunking sound, nothing to worry about, I've felt/heard this on several cars.

Mine does it as well - seems like a miss, but I think it is just the nature of the engine.

It will be much less if you find the right spot to push in the clutch. If the car is pulling, or if it is holding back when you push it in , the result is this clunk and jerk. But once you get used to the rpm and when you should push it in , it will barely do this if any at all. I can drive it without this happening at all, but my wife gets in the car and drives and it sounds like the driveshaft is slapping the bottom of the car every time she pulls up to stop. Hope this helps!

That's just the sound of fear, from the cars around you. You'll get used to it.
