Tampa Tuning dyno results of street tuning package

www.TampaTuning.com

If you recall, back in January, This stock car with an after market air intake dyno'd at 371 RWHP and a SCT tune. within 5 minutes of the dyno, a SC2150 ported throttle body was installed, and it pulled 380 RWHP.

Recently, the owner installed long tube header, and Tampa Tuning designed a street package tune on it. The temperture on the orginal dyno was 70 degrees. The below are the results are from last week's dyno on a 99.6 degrees day.

The Tampa Tuning street package tune produced 405 RWHP and 400 RWTQ on a nearly 100* day.

On the original dyno day in January, Five Gen 5 camaros were done ...

Josh - 397 ( tune by another shop)
Paul - 380 ( SCT tune)
Jim - 375 (unk)
John - 318 ( tuned by another shop)
Pete - 240 (V6 untuned )

Why not SAE (corrected) numbers?

That should help the numbers seeing it was so hot.

Here are the modifications:
K&N cai, Borla S type cat back exhaust, Kooks 1 7/8 headers w/hi flo cats, Vmaxx throttle body

SGO. You ask about corrected numbers in all dyno threads. What are you looking for? Flywheel numbers?

Shops dont give if the weather is XX temperture you'd get XX more HP.

SAE Correction compensates for weather conditions and attempts to normalize the horsepower output to take weather out of the equation.

What day was this as it would be an all time record. Highest temp ever recorded in Sarasota was 99 back in 1998. Looking back at last week the highest temp recorded was 95 on June 16th and that's the only day it got over 91.

Feels like about 150 outside around here lately though. Car is running like crap in this heat and humidity.

Nice gains though.

I am reasonably sure he knows what SAE corrected numbers are.....the problem is why give them...because nobody else gives them. Dyno sheets are all over the place.

The real gem of this thread is the huge increase in spite of 30 degree hotter temps.

It was 99.6 degrees air temp in the shop while dynoing. My bad

The owner of the vehicle was told there was HP left on the table because of the heat. I dont like reporting numbers like that and would rather state the actual numbers coming off the dyno for better or worse.

The problem with STD numbers is that cars make significantly more HP in cold air.
STD numbers will be inflated in cold air and underrepresented in hot air.

You could dyno a car in 90 degree weather (STD numbers) and then dyno it again in 50 degree weather (STD numbers) and the number will be way off. The car will make significantly more HP in colder air.

You really need to use SAE numbers if the car was baselined on a different day with different weather conditoins.

My guess is his corrected SAE numbers would have been up around 415 - 420 rwhp because it was so hot. And his baseline numbers would have stayed pretty similar because it was 70 degrees.

I will run it on Matt's dyno again when its not so brutaly hot out. Am planning on a cam in a couple of months so will do a couple of runs before we install the cam. The shop temp did read 99.6 on a day when outside temp was around 94.

I like it Awesome results.

Need to get mine Dyno'ed; I should real close to this since I had the best Tuner in the area and the same MODS. What do you think Phil?
Bad thing is the shop around the corner does not open til 10am. I think its too hot and sticky for the best results. Will try to post soon. Maybe this week.

Just because everybody else jumps off a bridge doesn't mean you should too. I encourage people to use SAE numbers everywhere. I use a Powerdyne Mustang dyno now though, so numbers always look low.

That would be cool to see how the automatics numbers come out.
