Op, you certainly get my vote for forum hero.
I have to admit that I was a bit skeptical, but I gave this a try in morning traffic. I followed the OP's instructions one time and I never had to deal with the dreaded skip shift issue again. I must have done a hundred slow starts that normally would force the 1st to 4th shift. Not anymore. Congratrs, you have single handedly crushed an entire product line with your discovery! |

You have to clear it every time. If you're facing up hill at a stop sign, you will have to clear it every time you move. All you have to do is push the button on the end of the stalk. Worst can happen is blunt fingertip trauma, lol. No more than mine comes on I can live with clearing it. Easier than replacing the yaw sensor.

Because you have to hit it EVERY time...and you have to take your hand off the steering wheel to hit it...and since your other hand is on the shifter you now have no hands on the wheel.......you can try your luck hitting it with your hand on the wheel...but you might also turn on the high beams randomly.

Nice find but it's much easier with the skip shift eliminator. It took all of 5 mins to drive on the ramps and switch out the skip shift. It's a safer solution than taking your eyes off the road to find and press a button.

My 2011 SS doesn't have hill assist so I can't comment on that. I only had to hit the stalk one time and after that, the car never forced the 1st to 4th shift again. I guess the year/software version determines if this works. All I can say is that I no longer have the physical skip shift on my "to buy" list.

I have a 2012 2SS and I tried it on my way to work yesterday. It came up one time I hit the clear button and it didn't show up again on the rest of the ride to work. I don't know if I just never hit the right conditions for it to activate after that or it just turned it off for the rest of the trip. I tried to take off normally so it would show up again but could not get it to come back. I thought I was going to have to be pushing the button every time. Has this happened for any one else ?

If it is a one time fix that's great. If you have to do it every time it pops up - not so much.
I only notice the message after I realize that I can't get into second. At that point I'll glance at the DIC, and go on into fourth - usually lugging the engine. Going for the button just adds one more thing to distract attention from the road. As another user pointed out - one hand on shifter, one hand looking for button - too much going on IMHO.

You can bet the place selling the skip-shift fix sure is having a bad day today. Oh well, not like they didn't know of this fix and praying it was never found out.

For me it was a one time fix. I hit the SET/CTR button when I saw the DIC skip shift message and after that, it never happened again. No more skip shifting!!

So...one hand working the SET/CLR button...the other working the shifter?
God forbid you start turning left from the inside lane of a two lane turn and try this. That is unless it's one click and done. |

Sounds like this needs to be cleared up. People are saying different things.
Has anyone hit it once, have it work, but then had to hit it again? Even if it is the next day? Or is it a one time fix?
