2010 camaro whipple and backfires

Still having the same issues I've been fighting for a while. My car is a 2010 SS. Mods include, LS9 cam, 2.9 whipple, 3.875 pulley (whipples 10# pulley boost gauge says 12#) tsp headers, magnaflow catback, cat delete, rear O2 Deleted, cai cold air, zl1 fuel pump , adm fpcm , msd boost a pump and custom tune. Issues are intermittent pop and backfires when I go WOT. Sometimes it's like a violent fuel shut off. Pulled the plugs and replaced them (gaps at 32) today all but 7&8 looked good, both 7-8 had speckling and 8 had a slight bit of oil on the theads. On the dyno the car runs great and makes good numbers but on the street if I hold it in first gear and then punch it sometimes it runs great others it does the pop backfire fuel shut off stuff and for the life of me and my tuner we can't figure out whats going on. Any suggestions??? Thanks in advance

Stock bottom end I assume? You may have hurt something. Do a compression check in each cylinder and compare them. At 10-12 psi of boost on stock internals, I'd venture to say you damaged something.

70~ psi at the rail at wot. It dumps a ton of black smoke when it does it, runs rough for a second then clears up. I change oil every 5k with Mobil 1 and it may use 1/4 of a qt

Sounds very familiar to the symptoms I had. Frustrating, previous tuner couldn't figure it out.

What does your tuner say?

Looking at the power enrichment tables. I know nothing about tuning so I won't even pretend I do lol. He was saying for some reason my map setting was at 110 and needs to be below 50. Going to try that as soon as I can get it back to him. But honestly I think he is scratching his head like I am mainly because it's so intermittent, he's good and done a lot of camaros this one just seems to have us both confused. If we can't figure it out the car may end up on a road trip to see if Ted at Jennetty can figure it out.

Yeah my belt was slipping at wide open throttle. Tightened it up and it fixed the issue. Now I am just going through a belt about once every 1-2 weeks due to my belt stretching

I am running a 8 rib setup with 13 psi of boost with everything the same as you excepts gears. I am not getting any belt slip and its working great. I also was going threw belts until I went to the 8 rib. I did not think I was over 700 RWHP but I guess I must be. Also I am running a innovators west 8 rib 10% overdrive damper with a 3.75 pulley getting 13 psi.

Mines doing it at high RPM under Wide Open

SLP Supercharger
3.0 Pulley with JRE Super Tensioner (13lbs) with 8 rib
6 Rib v- Belt
Headers, no cats

Stock Cam

Made 606 at wheels.

I was driving in second gear, smashed the pedal and immediately started backfiring (8times or so) lost power, car was sputtering, no check engine lights, after 10 seconds it was clear and good to go.

Did it again 20 min later merging onto highway, easy through first, into second. Hard onto second gear, shifted to 3rd wide open...bam happened again. Total 5 times in 3 drives.

All traction control and stable track were off.

Car when in for new fuel pump 2 weeks ago. went from 3.4pulley to a 3.0 and added a torch 97 octane tune. Car ran fine before dropping pulley and tune.

I believe I fixed my issue. I had changed the MAF out the week prior to dropping pulley. Car was fine on dyno, but on street had issues.

By some advise from Ted at JRE, switched the old MAF back in and the issue seems to be gone.

Try a New MAF sensor, seen this before same scenario.
