Any Deliveries on a COPO Camaro Yet???

Haven't heard of anyone taking delivery of a COPO yet. Certainly interested in hearing 1/4 mile times. Incidentally, would a COPO be considered "bone stock" in the "official 1/4 mile fast list"?

Production is just starting to ramp up. You will start seeing COPOs hitting the drag strips early this summer!

Hopefully, anyway. I bet many will be sitting in garages and never touch a track more than once or twice.

Now THAT would be sinful! I want to see big time head to heads between the Cobrajet and the COPO. I'm not sure what engine the Cobrajet runs. Is it the new 5.0 or the 5.4/5.8 or what?

I'd love to own one. Just can't see paying that kind of money right now.

Just wondering if there are any documented runs by a consumer on the COPO Camaro by now. I have heard someone ran a 9.5 or so with the 327 engine and that was very close to the NHRA record for that class...whatever it was.

We have not delivered a COPO Camaro yet. They are going to start coming out in mid-August.

Good news of the week: The first 18 COPO Camaros passed NHRA chassis cert.

It won't be long ...

OP, I don't think it would be considered for the 'bonestock' for the simple fact that these cars can not be registered for street use. And with only 69 of these being produced I doubt I'll ever get to see one run in person :(

from talking with the COPO guys last weekend, Chevy is very picky in who they are selling these cars to (not just first come first serve). They ONLY want to sell them to people wanting to put them on the track. There may be a couple bad apples in the bunch, but we should see most of them on the strip.

hrpiii, I don't know who you talked to to get that info you just posted but it sure does contradict the article in the August 2012 issue of Hot Rod magazine. In the article GM states there were 2000 potential buyers for the 65 or so cars that will be made available to the public. GM will be retaining the first one, and a hand full will be held for "marketing reasons" meaning for certain race teams. For the sale of the 65 cars the list of 2000 names was put into a computerized random list generation program and provided a random list of the 2000 names. The then Chevrolet Performance called in sequential order from that list until all 65 cars were sold, this process was completed in February 2012.

Ford required you to have a race-association license to purchase the Cobra R cars, and you could only "win" the opportunity to purchase one through a buyer's lottery. How's that for picky?
