First night at the track
I went over to NE Dragway last night. Pretty disappointed in the runs, but it was my first time so the nerves were there.. not to mention the track was very slick.
My first run I wasn't expecting the yellows to flash down into green so fast! I got up there, was half-ready and ended up bogging it a little, got the RPMs up and spun into 2nd and went a little sideways. Got nervous about hitting the wall (was in left lane) and ended up coasting down and ran a 14.6. My second run my launch was decent, not much spinning. However, going into 2nd my clutch STUCK to the floor! Stayed there for a good 2 seconds. I know I've seen people with this problem before, might be a TSB out for it? My third and final run was decent. I tried easing into it so I wouldn't spin out. These were my times (obviously I know they should be better) R/T .706 60' 2.349 330 6.128 1/8 9.165 MPH 83.71 1000 11.711 1/4 13.868 MPH 104.67 I have a video not sure how to get it up here. My mods are cai/lt headers/hurst/tune |

Remember to leave when the last yellow lights up, that will improve your RT. Not a bad third run, though getting traction off the line.

I went up there last friday night and had the same problem with the track being too slick. I was also in the left lane, when I shifted to second the I felt the rear end kick out. The tires are the problem I think im going to get some nittos nt05, I have heard good reviews about them.

For a first time it's not bad at all.Takes alot of practise to work the times down in a M6 car.
Don't even look at R/T time -doesn't affect your 1/4 time at all. Work on the launch. If you got a 2.0 60' which is very do able your time would of dropped to around 13.1 . Takes alot of practise. I put 120+ track passes on my 01 Firehawk back in the day. Cost me a few tranny's,5 clutches and a rear. |

One other thing, I didn't bring a helmet..I was expecting to be able to buy/rent one there. Thankfully I met someone there who let me borrow his and we traded off between runs. Do you know a place that sells M95 rated or higher helmets? Looking online they all seem pretty expensive.

Go to www.denniskirk.com under metric motorcycle helmets they have tons of good deals. HJC makes snell m2005 helmets for great prices. Depending on your size they have some on closeout for as low as $38!!! Just check it's rating in the description to make sure the one you pick is right.

was that a Mustang in the left lane in your video? What happened to him at the start?
So the V8 can really do over 100mph at the 1/4mile? Cool! I can't wait to get up to the track. It's been so long since I did runs, and now I have a real car.
