GM should offer some kind of remedy for this. I mean, there's no reason for AFM to engage at 20 mph or less. I don't like going around a corner in my neighborhood and feeling it when I have to accelerate. I don't remember my Avalanche's AFM engaging at such low speeds. There MUST be some kind of computer flash that could fix this without voiding your warranty!

So, as I ave no plans or interest in upgrading my exhaust, I'm good then.

AFM SUCKS!! When Chevy first shipped camaros to dealers remember only v6 were in stock and you could barely test drive one and those plus they dont have AFM...so i order the L99 a A6 thinking by reading the descripton AFM its going me seamless like the chargers fuel displacement...and BAM after I did the muffler delete now I know the reason why theres so many mufflers and resonators on the L99. Only way I can somewhat control it is by the way i accelerate. I was thinking about taking the resonators off but im sure its going be more DRONE CITY!!

We all know the car is capable of around 32mph in 6th gear. You want good mpg, keep the RPM's low.
I agree. AFM does not bug me. Hard to tell when it kicks in with stock exhaust. Glad I got the A6.

Well, AFM does suck. I have an after market cat-back exhaust and the Noweeds diverters & when the AFM kicks in...... I hate it. I can tolerate it with just the exhaust system but when I open up the diverters, That's when it drives me crazy. I'll be ordering the Diablo/ Trinity tuner and so long AFM....

I'm getting my car tuned today to get rid of AFM. I can't wait to drive around in D without the annoying AFM noises.

I'll report back on how much better it is without it.

Does AFM kick in at low speeds when you are driving at a steady speed? I thought it would only kick in when cruising at a steady speed on the interstate. I feel and hear a definate exhaust drone beginning around 25-30 MPH when I am driving at a steady speed and it stops when I accellarate. If that is the AFM, it really sucks! It drives me crazy. Car feels choppy at low speeds.

YEP it sure does. Mine would kick in a 20mph! With the stock exhaust its barely noticable but with headers it horrible!

Diablo Predator for right at $300 with a puter cable and ac adapter.

Procedure: Choose the tune you want and then select modify tune, then select modify parameters, then select DOD, turn it to off, then press escape until it asks if you want to install the tune, and click yes. AFM is gone!!!

Appears my MPG may suffer a tad in the city, but who cares. May improve once I get more miles and do some data logging to get it dialed in.

Just my experience,
Mike

Instead of turning it off set it so it will not activate bellow 60mph.
Still get some fuel savings and it is almost unnoticeable when it kicks in.

Got my car re-tuned on Wednesday and I can't tell you how much better it is without AFM.
Now the exhaust sounds great all the time at any rpm or speed. Once you get rid of the AFM you'll realized how much the AFM was affecting your exhaust sound.
