Is the DSS driveshaft really stronger?
A buddy has an aluminum DSS 1 piece drive shaft in his Camaro and I saw that there are only 4 relatively small bolts connecting their aluminum pinion yolk adapter to the drive shaft. That seems like a seriuos weak point.
Anyone bust one yet? |

650 rwhp, and I hammer in it, no problem with my aluminum one piece dss. Great company to work with. If you get one you will not be sorry.

I'm not totally useless..

If you read the description closely you will see that they use Grade 12.9 bolts!
"The shaft only weighs 17lbs and come with special 12.9 uber strength hardware " In some cases, size does NOT matter....

IIRC, 27 lbs, the DSS 1-piece AL unit inc the billet adapter ends is 24...
But the bigger bonus is losing the center yoke and slip-joint setup of the stocker...

I have had mine out to the track with slicks on, no problem. The problem with the stock shaft are those stupid rubber joints. I bent 3 set's of bolts in my stock driveshaft before I switched to the DSS shaft. No more worries about that now.

Plus with the stock rubber isolators you loose energy. The DSS shaft is a direct link. I've used it with drag radials and slicks, with 1.4 60's and the piece is awesome. So happy I got it and they aren't expensive.

We have more than a few cars running from 7seconds up running this type of set up, for years we have used this same style part on the 93+ Supras-Dodge SRT8's and many other cars. yes they are extremely strong and the plates are machined on center to with the 16mm pin that comes off both the trans and diff to ensure a
perfect alignment between them both. p.s. we also have about 25 Honda-Pro cars running 8 second passes and almost every one has a small 4x100 bolt pattern, say what you want about them but a 26" tall tire doing 1.3 60ft times and a 8 second pass would ensure a smaller 4 bolt pattern is quite strong, not to mention the driveshaft is on the easy side of the Diff to turn. |

If you would like several names and phone numbers of people that use the billet plate
and 4 bolt flanges on real fast cars we would be happy to give them to you, send a PM |
