i do like all the time you spent on molding and and painting but i think it would look pretty slick if dsvcustoms did the mounting bracket in leather. You can do black leather with stitching and the stitching follows the stitching on their leather center console. Now thats an idea. You guys can team up.

Or maybe you just totally override the PDIM and it all happens in the head unit now. Cant wait for the writeup

no the pdim does nothing when you put a double din in there. basically the only stock functions that you would use are the onstar out of the center speaker on the dash, and some menu functions. otherwise the factory radio is useless, but it has to be retained in the car unfortunately. if that wasnt the case my job would be a lot easier.

Very cool, I want to upgrade what I have now, but if this method doesn't use the PDIM, I figure I shouldn't waste the money

Very nice. The only rough spot I can see is the 1/4 inch part of the double din sticking out while the other side is a little too deep. However at night it wouldn't be noticeable. Very very nice, I wish was closer to CA, I would pass by.. I do agree that if you painted the whole console gloss black, it would look a lot better.. Also for me the yellow panels is just too much, too bright. THe more goldish Bumblebee Sunrise color or perhaps even orange would look better and contrast more with the bright yellow of the car.

Ok let me just clear this up before we go any further. The CLARION unit we put int he car, the bottom and the right side stick out 1/4" farther then the top and the left side. that is ho wthe radio is stock, its not like a pioneer where its flat all the way around. the radio sits straight in the dash, it just looks sideways. this picture shows it better then mine. We dont do rough spots!!
