I know you think Gearhead is simply disagreeing to disagree, but he's right when he said there's no facts to back that up. The facts that are available, such as sales figures, say that most of the time, buying any car and hoping it'll be worth something one day is like getting those scratch off lotto tickets. It's nice to hope, but once you do the scratching, 99% of the players are disappointed they just gave away their money.

If the Recaro's leather is like regular seat GM leather, it's not going to last 40 or 50 years, let alone 10. And this is based on past facts. Looks like they're not going to last 4 or 5 weeks if the seatbelt holder issue doesn't get fixed.

But in 40 or 50 years, cars like ours may be only seen in museums. You just don't know for sure. NEVER buy a car thinking about potential classic value for decades later. Mecum, et al, may not be around by then to auction off a car at stupidly insane prices.

Now, if you're pretty sure you're going to want to trade it in or sell in say, 4 or 5 years, you might want to consider items that could help short term resale value. Although I don't ever think about what someone else would like when buying my cars, that's the only way I would see considering options for resale value.

I don't use the seat belt holders on my Camaro so that they do not rip away. Perfect fix to that flaw. I'm tall enough that the belt is right behind my neck anyways.
Second, if the seat belt holder is not used on these seats, the buckle will be tucked to far back to scratch the panel. I personally do not care for the seat belt holders.

Ok - but what about people who aren't tall? Not exactly a perfect fix for them.

How? What generates the force causing it to tear?

Just curious. My BRZ has similar loops, and I'm not seeing any issues with them.

Just pulling the belt down to click it in, its not really the loop coming off as much as the belt giving a friction burn to the leather...... you just have to pull out and up first, this should avoid the issue... should....

Gotcha. That's a bad design; seems like most cars with loops are set up where the strap runs under the belt, then loops back over - so the belt never touches the seat material, only the strap.

Thanks!

Yes, the only way to get unheated Recaro seats is if you order an 1SS

Yes. They also have side airbags built into them.

I was on the fence about getting them or going with the 2SS leather. After sitting in them once there was no looking back. Not only look amazing but feel amazing too !!
Highly recommend them if your budget allows it.

I think everyone is different. After going to a car show that had a new 14 SS with Recaros I tried it and eh... I'll pass and just use my CG lock at the track. I'd rather go with the manual Recaros used in the new Z/28 if I was to do a swap for weight savings.
