You got me, I know it comes off in one integral piece with the airbag. You trying to paint it?

I agree. I would paint it.
I envision you using a flat head screwdriver trying to pry it off and the airbag deploying and the screwdriver meeting your face. Ouch.

Yep. I was going to paint it. I have some panel tools that I am going to try. If I get it off I will update, but it is pretty stuck in there.

If it's like the prototype I worked on it's sonic welded from the inside of the airbag cover! Do NOT pry it off you will never get it back in place and if you glue it back you take the risk of it hitting you in the face or eye! LEAVE IT ALONE and paint it in place!

Yep. I will just paint it in place. its stuck pretty good. If the airbag were to ever go off I wouldn't want to interfere with it...

You can't remove the silver trim, it's a part of the airbag piece.

If you decide to paint it I highly recommend this product:Soft Touch Clear
We use it occasionally on interior panels and it actually has a soft feel and the sheen gives an almost vinyl look. Good Luck
