Strange usually sets them up complete before they ship to the diff kit vendors, that's part of the cost. I think some of the issues we see with noise is improper break in.

How long before you got your new Strange diff? I recently went over 1K miles on my rear end, and I now have an embarrassing and annoying loud wine from my 9". The shop that did my install supposedly is talking to Frank about it.

You know its a real shame these company's we buy the Diffs from cant seem to get them correct, we had use Strange exclusively for the last 1.5 years but started seeing posts like this. Strange wanted us to send in the Diffs for repair but we have taken it upon ourselves to purchase a new Diff for customers like your self so the car does not have to sit on a lift waiting for them to repair it a sent it back.

I hope most reading this don't think this is the normal way a 9" goes, we have sold over 165 of these kits all over the world and there has only been just over 10 people with the noise (noise from the gears, we have ever documented a case where the gear was causing a vibration) and as i said we have been purchasing replacement diffs to make it simple so the shop owner and the customer dont have a long wait time. I was playing phone tag with your shop Friday, We have changed the internal structure of how things are done in our Facility. We have now hired a production manager to over see internal things from department to department so wait times are kept to a minimum and QC is a priority. i will get with them today and straighten it out.

Frank

p.s. sorry you have the issue but we will straighten it out.

That's great to hear Frank, up until the whine I loved having this rear end and running 3.90 gears. Mike told me it wasn't a DSS problem, but a Strange issue. I guess as a customer I paid a pretty penny for this whole set up and install, and to have issues around 1k miles is a bummer. I hope it gets worked out fast as I want to go racing. Should I have any worries about driving my car around with the rear end making this noise?

9" Rear Noise.

My rear end sounds just like that. I had a problems with the rear leaking, that seems to be fixed but the sound has been on going since the beginning.

are you sure the leaking wasn't just the lube venting thru the vent tube. My Gforce read did that for a while.

What posi unit are you guys running? I have a Strange 9" with the Strange S Trac, no clunking issues like you are describing. Just curious!

Its driving me so crazy that in the next weeks the entire rear-end will get pulled, bushings changed, fabrication or whatever the hell i have to do to get the gears and/or rear-end quite and clunking sound gone. I did have a 1 wheel peel at the track a few weeks ago which is some concern now. I have the eaton posi unit in mine.
Frank is the ultimate in my opinion when it comes to helping out. He has a customer for life due to his superior customer service!
