Nitto Invos splitting at edge

So I go to take Lucy out for a cruze since its been a couple weeks, and she has a flat front tire. Now my Nitto Invos have kinda been peeling on the edge for a while, only one of the four is doing it. The tires have no more than 5000 miles on them. Now it looks as if the peeling has progressed to splitting.
I pumped the tire back up and its been 24 hours and its holding air. Worried about it blowing out, so I guess she is stuck in the garage.

Anyone else have tires do this? Guess I'll be ordering a new tire. Luckily she isnt my daily driver so its not a huge deal.

Those look an awful lot like cuts from the rim sitting on your flat tire (versus tread separation or some other type of tire defect).

Time for a new tire.

Looks to me like you're catching the tire on the fender. The tire is not ruined (from what I can see) but you will likely need a good fender rolling.

Best regards,

This. I had Invos in 275-40-20's all around and I am lowered 1". When I went to Autocross the car back in October the left front tire was peeling just likes yours from catching the inner lip. Nittos in that size have a lot of flex in the sidewall, handle poorly and squeal a lot. Ask Tyler, he drove my car at that event. I have since switched to PSS's in 285-35-20's and so far better handling and no squealing. I will be testing them out at Fontana this weekend. I wish you were coming Tyler, maybe you would take 1st this time.

Time for a new tire.
The cuts were all there before the flat.

Hitting the fender, I guess its possible since I am lowered but Ive never heard anything and its only one side.

Thanks for the replies. The tire is still slowly leaking, dropped 10psi since yesterday. Ordering a new tire now so Im not without her long.

I wish I could have made it too, bud. Last time was a blast!! Sounds like the Corvettes cleaned up again though.

I'd be willing to bet on the cuts being from contact with the fender. Be sure to check that out before installing the new tire or it may end up in the same condition.

I really improved this time. With the advice I received from you last time and the time Rob Byrd took with me at break, I made some big improvements. I definitely have to credit the PSS's as a noticeable improvement over the Nitto's. Maybe you can make it to the June event.

That's great to hear! Keep attending events and you'll see that progress steadily grow each time you go out!
