Wouldn't it be nice if they recalled my 3.45 rear end and updated it to the 3.91.

Taking away your current key fob?

Maybe I missed something... If I did, let me know. I've only read that GM will supply a seperate key independent of your current key fob, which of course you could hook onto it with a ring.

In effect GM has it's hands washed from the problem whether you want to use the key they supply you or your current fob key. I don't believe GM wants to spend the bucks to supply us a new fob along with the independent key.

I'm 5'7" and there's NO way that my knee can hit the key in the ignition unless I have some kind of seizure while driving. I am NOT participating in this recall, but thanks anyway GM for the offer of a 1990s style key and fob.

6'4 and 270lbs and never once came near my ignition. Was 318 and still never came close. I am sure there is more to the story on the three deaths than they are letting out. I cannot imagine a key fob that has been around for years with VW, Mercedes, Chevy, and a few others would now be recalled on a single vehicle.

I'm 5' 10". Not short or tall, and my knee doesn't come anywhere close to the ignition switch, even if I have it set to the lowest position. It seems like this issue would come up if you were to try taking out the key on purpose! As the Sports Guys say...."C'mon, Man!!!!"

According to GM , for that to happen on needs to be more than 5'10" to 5' 12"
So you are good

That's a good question... The GM press release says:

"The company will change the Camaro key to a standard design from one in which the key is concealed in the FOB and is opened by pushing a button. The change will make the ignition key and FOB independent of each other, so that inadvertent contact with the FOB won’t move the key from the “run” position."

Has anyone gone in yet? If I can keep my fobs, or at least one, I'll take the spares they're offering. Otherwise, no freakin' way.

The only dangerous part of my switchblade fob, is sometimes the key pops open in my pocket. I guess I could be stabbed in the leg and bleed to death. GM should spend another million dollars investigating this...

...or just put in the damn push button start we all asked for up front!
