stock lsa clutch, what are they good to?

what is the stock clutch good to? im seeing people putting down low 700 on the clutch with out swapping it out. debating porting my blower and heads though and im thinking with all my other mods going on that will put it in the 750-760 range seems like it might be pushing it on a stock clutch

750-760 stock blower alone is a challenge, to the crank is no problem, wheels is a different story!

I would be more worried about the LSA at that level, than our beefy clutch brotha!

Best of luck tho hope someone has a fact sided answer for you!

9.5 lower and 2.5 upper isn't a good mix. The rpms for the blower will be to high.. Maybe I'm wrong but I heard it isn't safe. Sorry for thread jacking

overspins it a fair amount but if it burns up the bearings ill just rebuild it. its not my daily anyways.

talked to a few people and the shop that will be porting the blower adn snout and they think it should hold up fine

I have seen two blown clutches all in the mid 700 ranges so it is possible to do.

my .02 is just settle for low 700's and don't overspin the blower that far. It is out of effecienty and it buiding extra heat and take lot of power to spin.

hmm thats what i was afraid of. i could not port the blower and save some money there and just do the snout and run the 9.1 lower and 2.5 upper.

The nice thing about staying out of the 9.55 is you might now have to buy the idler relocation bracket.

2.55 and 9.1 put you just barely over the blowers recomended limit. the 8.6 lower puts you right under it. they both don't really require any extras from what I have read.

I have the 8.6 lower and 100% know it just goes on no extra parts.

you could always port the blower to try to lower IAt2 temps and just run the 8.6 if you are worried about being over powered.

that is the nice thing about boost you could dial it back if needed.

you could even try the 2.38 upper that is like 15psi in one pulley but you still have some blower rpm in the safe range on the table.

i already have the 9.1 and the 2.5 sitting on my desk and the 50 mm idler. thinking at this point after doing some searching and talking ill leave the blower alone and save the $. ill wait and do that down the road when i do a clutch and ill do the heads at the same time.

yeah I think the 9.1 and 2.55 would be great. you are on the edge but not way over it as far as blower RPM.

if i leave the blower alone for now maybe next time i revist it ill be more apt to throw a spray bar in or do the 2.3L swap that lingenfelter is now making a snout for XD. HP is like crack will eventually want more XD. at this point i just want it faster than my last car but its going to be close with no blower work

The 2.5 upper and 9.1 lower will definately give you a very noticable increase in power without porting the blower!

Verdict??

So, is the verdict that the stock clutch in the ZL1 can handle 700RWHP? If that's the case, I'd be looking at that as a replacement for my 2012 SS clutch. Thanks!!
