This is the upper control arm mounts. The bar is installed upside down so that we can locate the holes.

We measured everything from the lower corners.....

.....and marked the floor.

Then we cut the rough holes.

We still have some weldind to do on this. I will post photos of the finished mounts tomorrow.

The finished upper mounts. Notice that we added a backing plate to the lower part of the mounts.

From under the car.

Next comes the lower control arm mounts and frame connectors.

Next, we laid out the holes for the lower control arm mounts. The key thing here is that the mounts are 44" center to center.

The rough openning.

We built our rails from 2" x 3" mild steel. The front angle is twenty degrees to match the crossmember that runs under the floor.

We built the rails longer than needed and tack welded them in place.

Once we were happy with how they looked we marked them at the right length. Then we took them back out and removed the unwanted metal.

The finished rail.

The lower control arm bracket with square stock tack welded on to make it easier to mount them on the rail (These will be removed once the brackets are in the right position).

Everything tacked in place. The rails were then removed so that the brackets could be properly welded.

Gotta look at our #17 COPO more closely. It just got washed, covered and stuck in the corner of the shop when it finally arrived......................way to busy Pro Mod racing to look. I'll try to post some pic's of the Real Deal soon.

FYI. I own and race two of the "Real Deal". The object of this thread is to show how someone can do this at home.
