It all happens very fast. It's not like a stuck throttle in a minivan.

Shutting it off in D would not have damaged anything at all. I wouldn't recommend it as a habit, but it's not going to hurt anything the one time when the throttle gets stuck.

Another option is to shove it into N and let the engine bounce off the rev limiter until you stop it and shut it off.

hollywoodGU copypasted it from another forum. He didn't copy the link, he just copied the displayed text. If you hover and look at where it points, it links to "racers...ealership.html".

Correct link:

"Stuck throttle" often means the driver was confused and stood on the throttle thinking it was the brakes. I bet this guy decided to blame the car what his boss asked what happened.

drive by wire got stuck? i highly doubt it, if this is true we will see a MASSIVE recall on every challenger ever made, the guy panicked, smashed the accelerator and decided to go into a pole instead of in traffic, at least he didnt slam into some people...

throttle stuck my ass..

A likely response from a driver who wants to get on it, but can't handle it.
I'm with tag on this one. Sounds like the kid who was asked to move it decided to get on it and see what it could do and found out it has too much power for him.

I believe the Challenger has the push button start as an option on some models and perhaps standard on others. If this car had the push button start, then the tech may have wanted to turn the key to kill the engine...but "Oh $hit," where's the key!! Key, key, key...WHAM! He at least should have put it in neutral. But, things do happen very fast when you are not expecting them.

Why would a DBW throttle not be capable of malfunctioning? It's far more complex than a cable throttle. DBW can malfunction in the computer, a short on the wire going to the actuator, or in the actuator itself.
