Comparison Photo of Pfadt vs H&R Lowering Springs
With all the recent threads started about height differences between the various spring manufacturers, here is a photo that may help some with the decision process.
Both are 2SS/RS versions.

TWCompetition, thank you for posting this up. This is a useful comparison. The only thing I can add is that we stop at 1.25" drop due to the problems we experienced when we went over that drop. The problems we saw were in damper travel (bottoming out), and it severely affected ride quality, especially on the rear end. This is not meant to dissuade anyone from H&R, but to only tell our experience, with our own products only, and offer a reason why we didn't go lower. We engineered more of that damper travel back in our coilovers for this exact reason, so we could go well below the 1.25" drop, and maintain a great ride quality with OEM damper travel values.
Thanks again for posting this! This comes up all the time. |

Thanks for posting that....nice to see a comparison.
The look of the lower H&R is nice but personally I think the ride quality might be affected being that low. There is a reason why the majority of Mfgs do a 1"-1.25" drop. If I was younger or if it wasn't my daily driver I would've probably picked the lower stance but as I'm getting older I'm better off with the compromise of noticabely lower without killing ride quality. Just a personal preference. Man....picking a sping Mfg is a hard one!

Is the look more important than the feel? I have H&R on my car and it is a daily driver (and I am 26 years old ). I love the way it looks, especially with my 22's on. But the ride quality definitely suffers from it's stance, not so much that it bothers me all the time, but I definitely notice it. For me though, the look of being lower was more important due to me showing my car at different events. If that wasn't the case then I would definitely go with Pfadt springs. Both are great choices, just depends on what matters most to you!

To me the Pfadt looks even front to rear. The HRs look to sag in the rear. Both are better than stock.

I like the pfadt. The H&R looks too low for my taste.

Pfadt looks like a factory drop, where as H&R looks AM/custom...both do their job-appearance wise.

Great comparison shot, thanks for posting up. I love the look of the H&R worried about a year or two from now after some spring fatigue sets in

I did the H&R on my V6... ride quality is fine... yes, bumps are a tad bit harsher, but doesn't bother me in the least... We trimmed the rear bumpstops a bit and certainly never feels or sounds like i bottom out. Then again it's a 6... I have about 4000 miles on mine...
I will say some times it does look like the rear sags, but other times it doesn't... Now H&R list the rear as a 1.3" drop but appears I got more like a 1.5" drop... Front is listed as a 1.4" drop and that what I got... Animation is not perfect... but gives you an idea...

I am really interested in the H&R springs as I love the stance you get with them. I have heard GM changed a part on the camaros being built. Something about a cup where the spring sits or something like that. Mine was built in December. Would the H&R springs work with my camaro?
