The vehicles to save Detroit. per Car & Driver

Dodge Ram vs. Chevrolet Silverado vs. Ford F-150

Long but interesting read. The Silverado falls into third from last year.

But are these really the vehicles that will save the Big 3?

Nope. GM, Ford & Chrysler need to produce 1) a good looking sedan that gets 25-35MPG, i.e. a Camry/Accord fighter and 2) a hybrid that doesn't look like old ass the way the Prius does. Personally I'd rather have a Malibu than either a Camry or Accord but the Big3 need to convince much of America.

I still think the Silverado is one hell of a truck.

This article was written by Car and Driver? Never mind. I am surprised they haven't just condemned the entire American Auto industry by themselves. C and D is pathetic. As far as these vehicles saving the Big Three? No, but sure helps. Japan has tried several times to build a real truck, and failed. :flag2: If people continue to read and believe what they read about American cars in such fishwraps as Car and Driver etc., then the US auto industry has a real problem. It would be nice to see some of the media tell things as they are for a change. Toyota recalls? What are those? Stupid media. Go Detroit!:flag2:

Did you read the article?
They really liked all of the big three's trucks and actually condemned the Japanese ones.

I started to, then stopped because I realized it was C/D. My bad if they actually didn't like the foreign junk. I must admit its my fault for being biased against C/D. I had a subscription to it for 32 years. It was getting so I couldn't stand to read it anymore.Constant American Auto bashing while praising japan and germany. Just wasn't the same as it was years ago. Still don't care what they have to say though...just because.

1) Chevy Malibu I4 (22/33 ~28 comb) gets better fuel economy than the I4 Camry (21/31 ~26 comb) or Accord (22/31 ~27 or 21/30 ~26).
2) Ford Fusion Hybrid, 2nd most fuel efficient car in North America -after the Pious

Considering the silverado and F-150 outsold EVERY other vehicle in the united states (civic, camry, etc) I can definitely see how they are vital to the auto makers.

They're definitely important as GM makes the most profit off trucks. However, it's the volume cars (midsize/full size sedans, compacts, etc) that are going to have to save GM.

Wouldn't it be great if the Malibu sold in the same volume as the Silverado?

Yea, but what would be better? If the G8 sold the same volume as Silverados!
Then i could find a Blue Stryker GT for cheap!
