Headers BEFORE break in??

Would this be a good idea? Since the vararam unit doesnt fit 2012's I might bite the bullet and buy a set of headers.

Break in???

I had about 15 miles on my car when I took it around the corner from the dealership and hammered it. Maybe more like 85% hammering but definately didn't baby it.

I'm pretty sure that back when I had ADM install my headers he had an brand new 2011 with about 160 miles or so in there getting a full supercharger package. I remember it put down over 600 rwhp right in front of me. I was a little shocked that someone took it right from the dealership to him to get the full works.

Get a tune, running without a tune could be bad on motor, and in break in is worse, but most guys that get headers never tune them, but its not like the motor is expensive or anything.

You won't have any problem putting on headers during break in. We have used brand new cars to prototype headers. I personally give my cars about 50 miles when they are brand new before I hammer them. I used to work at two new car dealerships, lets just say that you don't want to know what goes on with new cars there

i break in my motors under the conditions i want them to perform. You only have so much time as the rings are seating.

if the motor is going to fall apart , its going to fall apart, after the first 10-30min run checking the motor, it gets WOT, in the case of my V6 that was 15 psi after 5 pulls it got put back to 20 psi.

at the track it got put to 24 PSI and proceeded to lift the heads and melt the head gaskets.........

my 2010 Nissian versea, same thing i floored it getting on highways and things the first 3000 miles. now it get 2-3 MPG better MPG then the ratings and it is faster then other cars like it. when i get a loaner from dealer they all feel slow and sluggish.

The firts motor i biult for my V6 was fine. but it was slow, the compresstion test where all uneven from 130-160. I spoke with a race biulder and he simply said. how would you like to train to fight a person the never fought be fore and find out he's the world champ? the next motor I broke in with boost and it has been much better. comp test show 140-145 across the board

just my experience and opinion

I think it was a great improvement. The car runs a lot better on the tune.

Did you run without a tune?
