The ZL1 virginity thread-poll

I decided to trade in my '10 SS Maggie car for a '13 ZL1 mainly due to having a factory warranty again. The tempting thoughts of putting aftermarket goodies on my Z tempt me every day. I must resist because I can never forget that's the reason why I let my previous Bumblebee go.

So, here's the question-poll. How many peeps plan on modifying their ZL1 cars vs how many peeps wanna keep their cars stock for warranty reasons?

Parts are all sitting at the performance shop, just have to wait for warmer weather and the snow to disappear so I can get the car there now. What a rotten spring here so far.

The only cars that I have done mods on are camaros, rest of the cars I owned I didn't touch, the only reason I did mod my current ZL1 is because I have done a ton of mods on my 97 SS and I had the car for 5 years before selling it, without any problems.
So for me the Camaro is a solid car that can take on the mods, as long as you really don't over do it.

I'm doing engine mods that will be "warranty friendly" (if that makes sense)... There are a couple dealerships here that will accept warranty claims even if your car is tuned... It all depends on the relationship your tuner has with the dealership.

Car needs power mods and just a little tighting up in the rear flex.

pulley, cai, trailing arms, rear sub bushings. then the car is just rock solid but you can go farther if you want to.

There needs to be at least one more option to choose from. I'm going to be modding mine for sound. The power will more-or-less be a byproduct of what my intent is. Headers, CAI and cam are all I'm looking to do for a while. There should also be an option for guys planning to do exterior/interior/lightning mods.

You gave up thousands of dollars in mods to get a car with a factory warranty?

I saw your ZL1 at old town and it is beautiful. That can't be the only reason you traded your heavily modded SS.

Pretty much. I loved my Bee but me always worrying about the engine letting go was wearing on me. That was always the reason why I hardly ever got in the throttle heavily.

Living in fear is never a good thing.

I had similar experience as OP. I wanted a car that would run like a champ from the factory. There are very few cars that you'll run up against in traffic that are faster unless you live in California of Florida.
I had a '99 Z28 with a turbo charger. Ran great for a while, but wear and tear were starting to show and it was going to cost me a lot to keep it going. More power= more broken parts.
I have 1 mod planned for my ZL1. Rotofab because if looks great and sounds awesome! Easily changed back to stock and no warranty issues. Also it won't put addition stress on the car.
If I was ever brave again to mod, I'd have it done right at a place like Livernois. That package looks amazing!

Man, tough decision. I'm a car guy and always want more HP. Have made any mods yet though but would sure like another 50 to the wheels.
