Trade your '14 Camaro for an '07-'08 Ford? No way. Why not a 6th Gen Camaro SS. Performance is looking pretty good on them and it wouldn't be an almost 10 year old mustang.

The 16 SS Camaros are supercharged?
Sweet. Since he wants a factory supercharged car, and you suggested a new Camaro, I can only assume they are. That is, unless you didn't read his posts. But this is the internet, that seems unlikely.

The ten and up models are lightyears head of the 07 to 09 not only in power, but also how they drive. I would recommend you find a 10 drive it and then the old model. There is no comparison.

A 2011+ is the way to go. Much better engine, lighter, better platform refinement, and, IMO, better looking.

I see what you guys are saying about the 10-12 cars. And it might be the way to go however I think finding a 07-09 shelby with low mileage vs a 2010-12 shelby with higher mileage would be the way to go. I've also been thinking of c5Z06 (so stupid cheap even for low mileage examples) and a c6 isn't totally out of the question(just cause I'd rather the c6 vs the silly FRC coupe body style the z06 comes with. I know the vette would be faster. But idk I keep thinking about a shelby even if it's a 07-10.

C5Zs are pretty sweet.
No Corvette guy, but I'd drive one for awhile to see if I like them.

They are sweet and I am a corvette guy. But I just hate the FRC body style the c5Z got I'd much rather the hatch.

So I read an article about an 07 vette vs a 07 gt500 and as expected the vette out performed the gt500. So I went to test drive a local dealer and was quite impressed with the c6. Even though the gt500 would pull differently with the blower and a c5z would be faster. I'm very impressed with the ls2 vette. Would it be worth it to hold out for an ls3 vette?

Given the choice I would wait for the LS3 car. The LS2 is a great motor..but I would still wait.

Doesn't the LS2 have a restrictive manifold? And can't a ls3 manifold be swapped over?

Honestly if you were that easily swayed.... sit on your cash.
Do more research, drive a variety of cars you "think" you might enjoy. There's zero reason to set your blinders to kill and pick up a 07-09 GT500 if you enjoyed an "underpowered LS2." I wish I would have test driven a Boss before I bought my Shelby. The cars ****ing amazing, it has an image unmatched by a current Mustang, but no way i could testufy it's a great driver. I haven't had enough experience to say whether I like or dislike, and that's why you should wait to swing for a GT500

Hahah I know and I wouldn't be picking up a new(to me) car at least for a few months anyway. That's why I decided to drive the ls2 vette today. In the mean time the camaro will get paid off and the down payment will get bigger and bigger. Any other cars I should maybe set my sights to?

I drove a 2005 Mustang V6 and the handling on that car is horrible compared to the Camaro. The solid axle is great on smooth surfaces, but is no pleasure on any bumpy surface. There are times the rear came out on me going 30MPH on elevated highway ramps with bad joints.
There is something to be said about 4 wheel independent suspension and a car the holds the road regardless of the surface. |
