A kid at school was talking about this, and the raptor against the Mustang GT and we got into this huge debate about which one would win. He says "the Raptor will win in the end because it is heavier and will gain more momentum."

This is coming from a kid who tore up his car by "hilltopping" and told his parents he hit a pot hole at 40 mph.
Well, that would be true if the race was to see who could go through the most brick walls.

Only you know your reasons. Personally, if I see a topic that I don't want to participate in, I either ignore it or simply read it, but not post.

there is a difference between the sound of OHV & OHC engines.

try almost 4800, so about 1/2 ton difference between my truck & a raptor.

take a stock 6.4 raptor making 325 to the wheels & compare that to mine making slightly over 100hp less and (given a better launch & shift) running the same 1/4mi times... that's sad

yeah, i know the extra 100hp makes up for the 1000lb difference... that said, it's on-par with a 10-year-old GM LS engine. that's why i ain't impressed. that & the truck's just ugly

True the raptor is quite slow, but take the trucks off-road, what the raptor was meant for, and your truck will have the springs sticking out your hood on things the raptor could hit at 200mph in reverse LOL

not with the new Bilsteins i just put on last week
that & it'd take an awful lot to put a torsion bar through my hood

i know what you meant

It has a lot to do with the exhaust, I have noticed with 4.3s and Dodge's 3.9 they can sound like a V8................. at idle, but once they get moving there is no doubt there is a 6 there.

See above and it takes roughly 100 more HP to accelerate an extra 1000 pounds in the same times so do the math.

You are really not looking at the qhole picture. Lets put some 35 inch tires designed for offroad duty on your truck and put an extra 1700 pounds of weight in the bed and that Raptor would be running, not walking, away from you. Also it is a 6.2 SOHC not a 6.4.

lol The Raptor would get beat so bad it wouldn't even be funny.

Two vehicles designed for totally different things.

the one in my sig. i was just on a truck scale a couple months ago - 4780lb. that's me, a full tank, & a few things behind the seats

It has a lot to do with the exhaust, I have noticed with 4.3s and Dodge's 3.9 they can sound like a V8................. at idle, but once they get moving there is no doubt there is a 6 there.

notice you just named 2 pushrod engines?
having ran both a v6 & v8 through the same truck & same exhaust (the only difference being manifolds), i know full well there ain't no mistaking the two when you mash the skinny pedal. and you're right - sometimes idle can be a little deceiving... (that's why i did mine the way i did)

i did the math - reread what you quoted right after this

D-range 33s are soon to come & i know that will hurt my times - that's the nature of the beast.
again, 4800 to 5800 is only 1000lb
and the 6.4 was a typo. if you'd actually seen my post before i edited it, i had 6.2. my bad

and i believe you missed my whole picture - again, reread what you quoted & you'll see where i mentioned that the reason i wasn't impressed with it is because its power:weight is only a bit higher than my old worn engine. i just don't believe it deserves the hype it gets regarding power. suspension is another story
just so we don't go through all this again, i ain't just blowing smoke out my butt. i do actually think about things & look stuff up before i post

You can't compare the curb weight of the raptor to your wet weight w/ driver though. Keep in mind, the raptor will weigh much more than curb weight with a driver and full tank.

curb weight includes all vehicle equipment, a full tank of gas, all fluids, etc. i did forget that it don't include driver weight, so subtract 145lbs

regardless, the point's the same

I actually had to decide between trading in my Ram on a new Raptor, or keeping my Ram and buying a Camaro SS, so in a way I have already done the Raptor Versus Camaro, and the Camaro won. I got to drive a 6.2L Raptor last Friday, and for a truck it was pretty dang quick, and it rode really nice. I'll have to admit, there was a little part of me that wondered if I had made the right choice, but it didn't last long when I pulled into the driveway that night in my truck, and my Camaro was sitting right there waiting for me. I know that my truck isn't going to win any awards anytime soon, but I still enjoy driving it, and I've put a lot of my hard earned money into it, and I paid it off way early. Now I get the best of both worlds; a truck for work, and a car for play.
