It's called Volant wants me to shove the MAF in a plastic tube that is 78mm OD. Guess what the ID of a stock ls1 MAF is?
78mm. Poor thing is too big for the hole. Anywho, no way I'm gonna shove that $370 sensor in an intake I paid $125 for. Ordered a silicone connector 4"x3" to couple the two together. Was gonna order a bellows but f**k SLP and their $65 marketing tube-let. Should have the connector by Wednesday. Ironically it all bolted up no gaps or fitment issues whatsoever until it came time to hook the MAF up. When it was a giant case of "...wat." |

i would think the Volant would fit stock MAF...i never cared for how the Volant looked, i liked my SLP lid.

You can see where they wanted it to fit, but I've seen quite a few where they used a coupler from the maf to the intake elbow. If they shaved a few mm off the inside of the tube but I lacketh the dremel.

Bump for..
Then I started it.. And the cops came. Guy was on patrol and gave me a verbal warning. Life is conspiring against this intake I swear. Anywho gotta do some trimming to the sleeve then refit the cones. Fits like butter.. |

Last night was louder and at 10pm. I live on the side of the block that has HOAitis.. A pretentious bunch that I hope rots in hell because a throttle blip apparently causes property values to plummet.
*sigh* Patrols have been more frequent ever since I got the car I shit you not. So what if it sounds healthy? So what if it looks menacing? So what if I reach 25 faster than everyone else? I obey the speed limit! I can only hope Columbus happens, no more HOA and dolt parents and a place of my own again. |

You should get a house with me when i get my next car, which will hopefully be a WS6, and then we can annoy the piss out of the neighbors together

I actually work for a HOA (and live in one; not the same one, however). There are always those who don't know how to put into perspective lifestyle differences. It'd be one thing if you were doing burnouts every night when the clock struck midnight, but just working on your car is your hobby. For others, it may be knitting

Soo want to do a 228R but I gotta tie up all the sloppy suspension bits after the clutch. Volant was as I said a spur of the moment thing.. and many more could come.
The irony on these intakes are that they fit so snug on the stock hood. If you look on the underside of a WS6 hood then the sleek beak hood the space made to fit the high rise ws6 box does the volant kit in. It's also NEVER right from the factory, had to Dremel a half inch out of the filter Y neck to get the MAF to finally fit. And even then if you look up by the weatherstripping you'll see that I hacked the top of the hole off to fit the neck due to the whole TB/MAF/Y-neck all meeting at an extreme angle. Ill revisit the setup to trim and clean more but for now its functional and that's fine by me. |
