Castrol Speedway, Edmonton - Friday July 16, 2010

Gonna see if this gem of mine can run like an LS-3 should!

Just going to make a pass or two to see what kind of times I can pull off and make sure that I've got an optimally-performing stock SS.

So... for those of you who have run on an organized quarter mile before (HotSS) I'm looking for a little advice.

Shift points (How high do I rev?)
Water box (Will I bother?)
Tire pressure (How much?)

And... do I need a helmet for street legals??

Jeremy

Hello Bond,

I run every weekend but have an automatic right now, as far as your shift points go I would shift 200 below red line thus you will avoid the fuel cutoff if you do hit the rev limiter. As far as the waterbox goes I have tried both and unless you are running slicks the waterbox and burnout has no effect on my et's exept using up my tires.Tire pressue I run at normal 36lbs. And you wont't need a helmet unless you run under 14 seconds, try it and see without helmet, and be assured they will advise you if you have to wear one.

My Et's are in the low 13's and I have grabbed a few high 12's. Running 2010 SS/RS with Hennessy cold air induction, and Borla Cat Back Exhaust System, also a Superchip Programmer.

Hope this was some help "Good Luck" and most of all have fun.

If weather clears up I may show up there tonight, it is raining down here in Red Deer area right now. it does show it is supposed to clear later this afternoon though
If so I would like to give the 1/4 mile a try, I need to get a fews runns in before I head to the pinks all out down in Denver for August, so lets hope the weather cooperates

Thanks for the info WildThing. Especially on the waterbox/ burnout. I'm trying to sorta preserve my Pirellis. Gotta pick up a helmet though... the Castrol Speedway site lists the rules for street legals which includes a helmet, regardless of times. I discovered the rule page last night.

You putting the Camaro up in Pinks SilverIceMan?

So... for those of you who have run on an organized quarter mile before (HotSS) I'm looking for a little advice.

Shift points (How high do I rev?) 5700 to 6000.

Water box (Will I bother?) No water box unless your runnin slicks"treads hold water" so drive around it and do a short dry spin just to clean the tire.

Tire pressure (How much?) I'd leave it stock on the rears(32-36) and add a little to the fronts 40psi or leave it if you donot have a compressor

And... do I need a helmet for street legals?? and yes for the helmet in all classes last time I ran in Calgary.Sept 09

Jeremy
hope this helps

No probs bud and btw if you need a helmet most tracks do have loaners that you just give your DL card and they give you an approved helmet which should be DOT or SNELL 2002 approved
