Problems while getting gas

I hope I'm not the only one with this problem...

While getting gas, I am not able to "rest" the nozzle in the filler neck. If I do "rest" the nozzle, the nozzle stops pumping. I have to lift the nozzle approx 1 inch up and hold it in that position for it to continue pumping. As soon as I engage the "auto-pump" switch on the nozzle and let go of the nozzle, it drops back down to a "resting" position and shuts off.

I've gone to just about every gas station around my house just in case it was a specific nozzle or something like that, but all of them respond the same way. Anyone else experiencing this same problem?

I had the same problem, the nozzle kept shutting off as it filled.

Certain pumps always do this for me. And others don't. So yes it is a problem. I think its the angle the injection point is into the tank.

The result you guys are seeing is the saftey feature of the nozzle and is common with most newer cars to not allow you to pump at a high rate with the pawl handle catch engaged for hands free delivery. If you place the pawl for full rate delivery and it doesn't work, try 3/4 or half rate.

There is a saftey feature in the nozzle that when excess fuel reverses, the switch will sense tank is full and stop pump.

I filled up at Chevron and didn't have a problem. I parked to where my gas tank was relatively lined up with the gas nozzle so that when it was put inside the tank, the hose formed an "s" shape and kept enough tension to hold the handle there.

Of course I say that now; I didn't pre-meditate any of that. Just worked out that way! But try it, maybe it'll work for ya!
