That 370 ft lbs torque gauge got me thinking L76. If it were the LS3, even detuned, it would be at 400-430. But the versions of the L76 used in cars have more than 370 ft lbs. In fact, I don't know of any GM engine for cars that would give such a number.

As for the Torque gauge, the Pontiac info lists this for their engines.
256 hp/248 lb.-ft. (G8) 361hp/385 lb.-ft. (G8 GT) |

Also me thinks torque might not be accurate due to a test only engine.

Perhaps this is an entry level V8 with...hmm..maybe 330-350 lb-ft of torque. |

I learned that the hard way during the first interior shots. Anyways.....AHHH!!!! I'm absolutely LOVING the way the interior is coming along. Things Dragoneye notices: CUP-HOLDERS Radio is coming along..Like screen-plastic (very nice.) REALLY lovin' the center console. looks like a flip-open storage. Gauges (all of them) = real cool. Parking brake...meh, not bad - but I can certainly live with it. Thanks for posting these up! EDIT...maybe it's a V6??? And the gauge doesn't end on a peak number? Or perhaps it's not flywheel torque, but rear wheel torque??? That would definitely be in the realm of the L76. |

Is it possible that it will have the same engine as the Pontiac G8 GT?

I don't think thats wheel torque, because people will complain that their car isn't making the torque that its supposed to. Stupid yes but . . . we are talking about average consumers. But we have no idea about what those numbers actually mean because I don't know of any cars that have that a torque gauge.

It's too bad they're not using the red,white, and blue Camaro Logo anywhere. I think it would look great on the steering wheel. The Camaro typeface looks a little small.

Yeah its too bad they're not using that logo anymore.
As for nav, I assume we're going to be offered Onstar's turn by turn navigation. I'll just get my self a Garmin Nuvi. |

Well I hope they rethink that, I'm sure the re-vamped Mustang will have a Nav system available.

Here's what I see;
If you look at the close up shots of the tach, it seems to redline at 6000 rpm. The LS3 makes peak power at 6k rpm, so if this is the V8 it's not an LS3. The L76 makes peak power at 5600 rpm, so that's within the tach but awfully close to the top. The V6 makes peak power at even higher rpm, 6300. So, this is probably a V8. It's probably not an LS3. That leaves the L76 and Gen V for options. There's not enough info about the Gen V to guess any further. So I'm thinking the V8 choices are down to 2. Edit: Just checked the DI 3.6 and it peaks at 5200, so add 1 more possibility. Last edited by Splicerguy; 01-26-2008 at 08:41 PM. |

I think this is the V6 interior and gauges.
but I also think that the Camaro will be the first wide production availability of the Gen V V8 engines

I'm surprised it hasn't been commented on yet, but looks like a short throw shifter...think it will stay that way?
