I think I fell asleep during that race. Thanks Mototrend for finding 4 below average drivers and running on an old airstrip. Pretty dang accurate and scientific testing there.

I think it is also worth noting that this was part of their "People's Pony car" article or whatever the hell it was....

All cars were AUTOMATIC, and equipped for the best economy/daily driving.

Doesn't change much for the camaro, but the mustang didn't have it's performance pack, that includes wider, stickier rubber, and a 3.31 rear as opposed to the 2.73 on the car in the video...

The other thing of note is the base prices on these vehicles.

Challenger: 23,995
Camaro: 23,530
Mustang: 22,995
Genesis Coupe: 27,550

The Genesis 3.8 was marketed to compete more closely with the SS/GT/RT crowd than the base crowd. The base model 2.0T Genesis sheds over 90 horses from the 3.8 V6.

Thank you, its like comparing a gt500 to the SS, stupid because it makes no sense. Just because its in the same category in terms of specs

Still surprised to see our 6 beat the stang but i guess the gearing really makes a difference.
Do you guys think we wouldve got better times with an RS equipped or slower times?

This months Motortrend article on those 4 cars is about the same result. But it was not to kind to the Camaro. Even though it matched or beat the mustang, they put it dead last due to visability, and interior.

And there you go.

Not many people are gonna spend $4,500 more for a car just to gain 3/10 second in the quarter.

And the Gen is Hyundai's top of the line sports car, the others are just the "entry level" versions.

The Stang is 300lbs lighter and only has 7hp less than the Camaro, so it shouldn't need the 3.31 gears to beat it.

And don't forget that the Performance Package you're referring to costs $1,995!
