Tuning with Diverters/Cutouts

I have been told that tuners with tune a car with diverters with them at 100% open in order to get the most power. However once tuned and you returned to fully closed position the car runs rich and idles rich until they are reopened. Is there anyway to fix this or is this an ok thing to do. I know these cars are rich from the factory but I am wondering how rich it will be at idle with diverters closed. I dont want to give my cylinders a bath everytime I am not using my diverters. Any input would be great.

Opening and closing the cutouts changes the VE of the engine. . . So to tune around this I would run the car in MAF only and disable the speed density and VE lookups.

so will that allow me for maximum power with the cutouts open and a more effecient afr at idle with them closed.

At idle you are in closed loop and your afr will be maintained at stoich due to the fuel trims no matter which way you go.

At WOT when you are in open loop running MAF only will allow the computer to accurately estimate airflow and control fueling whether the cut outs are open or closed.
