Thanks for the instructions and help, Sir Nuke. I've downloaded/bookmarked that page for future reference...

'Just thought I'd provide an update to my own findings. About a week ago, I managed to borrow a friend's USB memory stick that had some MP3s on it and plugged it in--it was automatically detected and started playing. I was finally able to do the menu-button hold test and it revealed I had a version C-something (couldn't see the entire thing since it flashed quickly and I was pressed for time) software. 'Plugged my iPod back in--still nothing detected. A few days later I let a different friend borrow my cable to charge his iPhone. The system immediately detected it and started playing MP3s that were on it. Curious, I later unplugged his iPhone and plugged my iPod back in and, amazingly, it started working again, albeit with a little fuss (skipping here and there) at first. The past couple of days it's been working almost flawlessly, like nothing was ever wrong!?

'Guess I'll just see how long this lasts, as I don't feel like dishing out $140+ for a new PDIM card and tearing apart (and likely scratching up) my center console anytime soon. At least I might have found a possible, yet inconvenient, temporary solution if this happens again.

I've used two Ipods in my car a 5th gne Ipod and now a 7th gen. They both got crackly and static at times. Usually unplugging and plugging it back in would take care of it. it's been a couple months now since it has done it. Sometimes it is just the cord.

I gotta say....and I'm not bashing APPLE....BUT you will read thread after thread after thread about people having problems when they have their iPhones, iPods, iPads pluged into the USB port when using them to play music.....easy solition.....put your music on a flash drive and be done with it.....When I do take a long trip I take my "player" with me, it is old (30 Gig ZUNE) but its never let me down and plays like a champ.

Funny enough, as soon as it picked up thumb drive instantly, I started thinking about doing just that.

for my EVERYDAY driving.....I have a 8 gig flash drive that has about 1800 songs on it....it stays in the car 24/7.....I never take it out and leave it on "shuffle".....if I'm going on a long trip, I take my entire music collection with me, its on my ZUNE. and its never had an issue either.

Hmmm. I'm at 37 months for warranty purposes (21,000 miles). I guess I would have to pay for this. I'm getting quite a bit of intermittent play on iPod. Kinda sucks not being covered since the service bulletin was published 8/6/11 (2+ years after Camaro was built).

well actually it first came out in 2009....right after the car was released. The date you see is the date of the Last Revision of the TSB. There is an ON GOING thread that is still active and was started in July 2009.

here is the original thread.......
