Uh...The Camaro races in Grand-AM. Le Mans is LMS, and ALMS. ALMS is the American Le Mans Series, or what you would call real sports car racing. In ALMS GM puts all it's efforts behind the Compuware Corvette team. The Vettes have won Le Mans a number of times.

Those Daytona Prototypes in Grand-AM, uh... they are not even close to the performance to the LMP cars such as the Audi R18. LMP, or Le Mans Prototypes are many many seconds a lap faster than a DP when they race on the same tracks here in the US.

I'll watch Grand-AM because I'll watch anything that races, but if you want to really see sports car racing at its zenith, tune into SPEED this weekend. Also check out the crowd size. At the end of the 24HRS of Daytona, there were many people dressed as empty seats. There will probably be close to 300,000 at Le Mans. In the sports car world this is the only race that matters. It's why Henry Ford II put all that effort into kicking Ferrari's ass in the 1960's.

I also will watch anything that races, including Grand Am. I had the good fortune a couple of times to go to LeMans but have not kept up with it in recent years. My wife and I are both approaching 70 years old, but in our twenties we stayed up all night at Lemans,watching the cars, drinking wine and doing what 20 year olds did when they thought everyone else was asleep. Great memories.
