Engine blew up

It is with great sadness that I report that my engine has died. I was exercising the engine Saturday, because it sits in my garage for the most part now since I got a beater to drive around. I was in second and gave it a bit of gas after driving it around for 5 minutes and it blew up. Loud metallic sounds, smoke, utter horror. Luckily I was only 3 blocks from my house so with the help of my wife we were able to push it back and park it in front of the house. I can't see much, but there is oil sprayed on the headers and leaking down, forming a big puddle under the car. Don't have the money to fix it or put a new engine in it. Any ideas for selling it? Thinking of selling it as a roller. Has a lot of parts that are still good and the car was built by Jannetty so you know it is a quality build.

Someone else told me to do this. How much would a used LS3 cost?

Curious how long the Jannetty kit was installed, did you run the car hard? Why give up so easy with that combo? Don't wanna pry bro but most peeps come on here tryin to figure out how to fix...not just run away.

I know it's disappointing but unless it's a monetary prob(I FULLY understand)pull up the big boy pants and let's get to work getting that beast BACK ON THE ROAD!!!

Just start pulling stuff(carefully) out of the engine compartment, drain oil, coolant and pop the valve covers...lets figure out what happened...peace out

Haven't run it very hard. It isn't taken to the track at all and with the exception of a few quick highway runs it is treated like a commuter. It had a supercharger on it for over 50,000 miles. The most recent build, with the engine, cam etc has been on the car for about 20,000 or so miles.

It is purely a monetary issue right now. If I had the money on hand it would be on the transport trailer out to Connecticut right now for Jannetty to fix up, but I don't have the cash and spending more at this point, after everything I have put into the car just doesn't seem like a good idea. Otherwise I'll be lugging a broken car around for the next 5 to 10 years.

Although, thinking about it I could offset the cost of a used LS3 by selling the supercharger so that might be an option.

What type of work did jannetty racing do to the car? I am just wondering because besides from being broke, what I took from this post is that your engine is busted and it was built by jannetty. Sorry if I offended you.

I did not take it that way. He put 70,000 on it with a blower and had it built more. I would not blame anyone for this. It just happened. 670 RWHP you can have things fail.

$5k for a used LS3 is way to much. Brand new from GM they are $6k.
