I'm all about a little powahhhh........

I suppose you saw the post, so, if you would be so kind as to either post or email me a few pics of the cage as it's packaged, and then if you unpack it before I get home, maybe a couple of shots as you get ready to install it...

thanks Corey...

Man, I would love to attend, and may, but right now my schedule is shot to heck in a hand basket... Our rig is leaving Brazil two years early, headed to the shipyard in Brownsville, about a seven to eight week tow, and will be there until Nov or Dec. I may make the entire tow, or I may get reassigned to another rig, or they may try to assign me to take it to Mexico if it goes there, at which point, I'll take advantage of the numerous job offers from other cowbird I have on the table.... I have lots of loyalty to my current company, but I've told them I wouldn't go back to Mexico... And that I want to stay international... So, time will tell...

How long do you stay on the rig at a time?

My typical schedule is 28 days on, 28 days off, though I lose the travel days since we are going to be on the rig for 28 days... The further you have to travel the more time you loose off...

I just spent a little over two weeks on a different rig helping them get off of downtime... That's when the oil company doesn't have to pay the rig day rate due to equipment damage or malfunction... The rig is back up and running again, so I'm headed back to my own rig... A little less than two weeks left in this hitch..l

Ah, I see the math. They make sure they get their days from you. Saw the pictures you had up with the waves and no sign of land in sight. I'm doin' my turbo learnin' in your thread. Nice build.

Here's a bit more math... We flew in a helicopter for an hour and forty five minutes today coming into the heliport, at about 125 knots cruising speed, so, you can figure out how far offshore we are...

We also average about 100-105 hours a week while on the rig, my personal best, or worst depending on the view point is 139 hours a week, two weeks in a row, and a 72 hour straight stint never leaving the moon pool area other than to make a potty stop... Roustabouts and roughnecks were bringing me food to my work area... When a rig is making 270,000 dollars a day, downtime is expensive and none of us like it,

I can't wait to start my 14/14 rotation in October... only difference is I will go to the same office I'm now at instead of a rig, so I won't have that travel loss and will be sleeping in my own bed during my hitch. Hopefully I can continue this right up to retirement...

Brazil is one of the best because there's no jet lag going North and South... makes a big difference on re-coup time.

19 hour day if you're going by seven days a week. 27 hour day if it's five which can't happen, lol. So when your on the rig your at work, period, I take it. That's harsh.

I can see why it's important to keep a rig up and running!

There are always four crews on a rig, well five if you count service hands that are there to breath air, eat food and crap in toilets...

Service hands credo, eat until sleepy, sleep until hungry, and crap on the way to the room from the galley...

The four crews are, day maintenance, night maintenance, working 6-6 am-pm or pm-am... And the drill and crane crews that work 12-12... The rig supervisors also work 6-6.

This all allows for a smooth transition from crew to crew, etc...

in my position, my base hours are 13 hour days, and the rig works 24-7-365, only since the oil companies can't figure out how to work it more...

We are only on the rig to work, and social events are limited to meal times, which are generally about 15-20 minutes long for any given individual...if the fork ain't moving, your butt and boots better be...

I worked in Egypt for a while and the Muslims had issue with our schedule... ( nothing against Muslims as a whole, I worked with some really good guys) but, they wanted to pack ...meal time in with smoke time and prayer time... 20 minutes doesn't allow for all of this, so the drillers gave them the option, smoke and pray, eat and pray, or eat and smoke, but not all three...

Their fix in response, they brought prayer rugs up and carpeted a small area in the back of the draw works, and would sneak off the floor to pray in between making connections...

Tell them to put a couple of turbos on that rig and get it there faster!

I am not sure he knows - these turbos will keep going all the way to 22lbs before they are inefficient - they are rated to go 1.5 BAR over atmosphere
