Get a cam spec from BTR or Tick. Call them up and tell them what you have told us. You'll get a lot better info.

Are you tracking road course?

If so, why are you choosing to stroke your engine? I think you should decide now if you want to go road racing or 1/4 mile before making an engine build.

Cam is too small to achieve your goal.

i dont understand what you mean by sending this article and building a road course vs drag trip motor. if you mean if im going to be running over 5500rpm on average i should large bore small stroke my motor that's extremely impractical for an ls3 due to having to re-sleeve it for the over-sized bore. and either way if i was building this for a pure drag or road course car then i wouldn't fall below 5500rpm for either so a 416 stroker wouldn't be the right build. but i don't have that money and this isn't going to be a car pulled by trailer. but it was a good article to read just didn't see how it makes a difference. but maybe im missing something.

Wiesco 4.07" bore -3 cc flat tops. also plan on getting GMPP ls3 cnc'd heads. i am keeping the current cam i have now as well as valves and pushrods.

current cam is Comp Cam:
valve lift: .620 intake/.612 exhaust
dur @ tappet lift: 285 intake/293 exhaust
dur @ lobe lift: 235 intake/244 exhaust
LSA: 112.0

i have dual valve spring and hardened pushrods already so dont see a reason to replace them. i am currently making 481 wrhp and 432 wrtq. is it unreasonable to expect to get to 550wrhp with a calculated 11.2:1 compression ratio with this build? thanks for any input guys!
I would definitely change the cam to take up for the extra displacement. We offer custom cams and cam specs if you need suggestions - we do a ton of them! Don't count on keeping the same pushrods; depending on the heads/cam you may end up needing something shorter or longer so be sure to measure. Should be a nice set up!

so it seems like everyone is recommending that i upgrade the valvetrain with the 416 stroker path. it makes sense to be. i was asking because i was not sure if it was needed but i take it that it is if i want to make any kind of n/a power. any other tips for the set-up? like am i looking at the right compression ratio?

550 is possible but you need the right cam shaft.

It depends on what your goals are. There is nothing wrong with the combination you posted. I would suspect it would need to be shifted around 6500 rpm and have very good street manners.

If you are looking for 550rwhp than yes you need a camshaft change. Are you running a stock LS3 intake manifold?

Close this thread OP. Did you finish the build? What numbers did you make?
