I actually read your post wrong. I thought you were trying to imply that we needed a second spot on the western-ish side of the country in addition to Firebird. Now I see that you just meant there's already been (or will have been by the time IV rolls around) two Fests on the eastern-ish side of the country, and there's no need for a third...

However, even if the Fest were to be held in Texas, do you still think you could get 150 Camaros to caravan there from the west coast? I'm not saying y'all couldn't, I'm just curious to know at where the break point is that the westerners will decide the trip is too far
I think we could. I'm willing to drive to TX, but that's about as far as I can justify personally. Got a few people in my circle makin the trip to to Indy this year, I just can't spend that $ or I would too.

how bout out on the salt flats in Utah?

Benefits -
  • Make your own 1/4 mile, auto-X, road(salt) course!
  • Have a 1 mile top speed challenge
  • Have a max your camaro event (5 mile stretch)
  • autocross on salt = better have skill!
  • unlimited room for vendors/setup
  • have your camaro on the famous salt flats!

downsides
  • would have to locate, rent, ect all of the timing equipment for 1/4 ect
  • hotels close? or just camp on the salt?
  • insurance and event coordination with Utah?
  • not much else to do...

Salt flats are 5 min away from Wendover NV. Small town but they have 5 casinos and 10 or so hotels. It would be awesome but I don't see it happening

One piece of feeback from a vendor standpoint is that April works much better than August for us. I would be down for something a little close on the East Coast too. Valdosta and Indy are over 11-12 hours for us. Phoenix took 3 days driving.
