Specialty colors (Rally Yellow, IOM, etc) hard to match in repairs?

I have an IOM Camaro and I'm just wondering if repair and body shops have a hard time matching this color. I received relatively minor dents/scratches on my rear right above the exhaust but it's just that. I'm hesitant to report this to the insurance company and am considering paying it out of my own pocket but if anyone's had past experience with these cars, how hard is it for the shop to match the exterior coat? It changes from shop to shop of course but I would just like to get an idea from anyone whose been in the same situation. I'll get my answer in a few days when I take it to the shop but the sooner the better

I have a Rally Yellow SS in the shop getting fixed and hope to be picking it up tomorrow, so I shall let you know.

Thanks, I appreciate it. I'm just hoping it won't be any harder to match than any other metallic coat but some pictures I found online give me the shakes. Guess it just comes down to luck of the draw when finding a shop unless youre lucky to have been there before :\

Any decent shop should be able to color match it, Most matching is done by computer these days

I will tell you for a fact the IOM is much harder to match because it's a tri-coat and the yellow is a single coat color.

I have heard IOM is pretty difficult to match. The metallic flakes is where it becomes difficult

My front bumper had to be replaced and my hood needed a repaint after a hail storm. I thought my body shop actually matched the IOM better than the factory did. Plus the paint seems to be much tougher than the soft stuff from GM.

Just got my SGM out of the repair shop and it looks fine to me. I have heard colors like iom and sgm are hard to match but the shop I went to seemed able to do it.

Can't speak abpout other colors, but my body shop matched my IBM great. Just go to a reputable body shop and they shouldn't have any problems.

IOM is NOT a tricoat. It is, however, very expensive. A good shop should have no problems.

My paint guy matched IBM to perfection with a Dupont paint blend when he painted my quarter flares. He gave me the leftover paint too, so I can fix any rock chips I get.

I have been a painter for years and a good painter wont have a problem matching it.

A good painter should have no issues-- but I will say the first time I got part of mine repainted, they did a piss-poor job. I was told the IBM isn't easy to match at all. It's because of the metal flake.
