that's not true either...within the last few years with the Canadian dollar reaching parity with the US dollar there have been thousands of ppl importing bran new vehicles from the US...there are countless stories on this in the media...for example, on how you can get a bran new vehicle in the US for sometimes up to $30k cheaper...mostly luxury SUVs.

Some dealers from certain manufacturers near the border are barred from selling to Canadians but if you just go a bit further south it is not a problem.
I understand the punishment they threaten if they sell to us is a loss of allotment on certain better selling models. A certain new car dealer who I won't name said he could arrange it so it looked like a used car, i.e. someone elses name on the title first and then mine. |

For what it is worth guys, when I put my deposit down the dealership used the 2002 top dawg camaro price as a comparison and it was around 43K. So I am hoping I can get a loaded up SS/RS on the road for under 50K CDN.
Although I can honestly say I'm not real happy about that considering the guestamated US base price on the SS is 29K. When you look at the fact that I'm only 40-45 minutes from the factory and I end up paying 10-15K more then the guy in Texas, there is something REALLY wrong with that picture. The only thing I can figure is that GM rapes their Canadian customs because they can!

Yeah it is totally retarded. US's economy is in the garbage yet we are getting screwed on the prices and they are being made here. somethings just not right. and we don't get the GM employee discount.

Go price out a Mustang GT from the U.S., and Canadian sites.... You'll get your answer.
If you want to save some money, import it from the U.S. You have a bunch of ways to do it, here are some links that will get you started ( Lots of reading, so get yourself prepared ). http://www.carswithoutborders.com/ http://www.redflagdeals.com/forums/s...d.php?t=307601 http://www.importcartocanada.info/ |

I went and build a mustang GT at ford.ca to get a rough estimate on a camaro. it came to 47,000 with a 7.99% interest rate for 72 months. $744 a month. at the american site it was 32,000. roughly 36,000 canadian. 544 a month for 60 months at 5.9% pretty big difference.

If you want GM to honor the warranty, it must be at least 6 months old. To get a close guess on price, just look at a G8 with similar options.

Even worse, look up corvette prices (Canadian to American).
You can get a base corvette for $47000 and in here in canada it $69500!!! So for the price they're saying for the top fully loaded camaro SS , we could get a base corvette in the states!! Now thats screwed up!! Hell the beast is being built up here. Dam I got to go and cool off!! |

we are getting RIPPED OFF here in Canada ,and I am for one SICK OF IT , the Canadian dollar is almost on par with the US yet we have these ridiculous mark ups here , my suggestion is to buy your new Camaro or Mustang or even Challenger in the U.S . The ironic thing is that the new Camaro is being built in Canada yet they still rape us Canadians

I am seriously thinking about getting one of my American buddies to buy it for me and then buy it from him 6 months later (yes I will give him the money to buy it). I'll save thousands!
