Quick question. The other day I was a at a tire shop getting a tire patched and one of the guys told me it was NOT a good idea to have all the lug nuts be locking lug nuts because they're not made to be tightened that much. He said that eventually the key would break or the lug nuts would start stripping and it would be hard to take them off then. Should I be worried about that? I have the gorilla lug nuts btw.

I think there was a spelling mistake there so I am not sure what you were asking about. I have had Gorilla wheel locks on several of my own cars and not had any problems with stripping or breaking.

I fixed it. He basically said I should only have one lock per wheel.

One is better than none but here is the thing. A knowledgeable wheel thief can defeat a wheel lock but it takes a little bit of time and is noisy. Obviously a car with no wheel locks is the easiest target but 4 wheel locks isn't a terrible deterrent. On the other hand, 5 per wheel requires a lot of time and noise which increases the risk substantially. Like I said, I have had Gorilla wheel locks on several of my personal vehicles and not had any issues.

I have the Gorilla wheel locks, all 20. I got them because I wanted black lug nuts, the added security is definitely a bonus. And I would say the gorilla locks are made to use for every lug nut since they sell them as a set of 20. These things are heavy duty too, I use the impact on mine and they still look perfect.

I guess it is too much to hope that a thief would respect your car at all.

You can't just call up Gorilla and order a set.
I think there is one more way, Break into car, pop trunk get wheel lock key then steal wheels and locks with the key.

Wheel locks are good and bad... Unless you have all the lugs as locks, then may as well not use them (and also get ready for your tire changer to hate you anytime you rotate, balance, etc.). Also you run a risk of scratching up the rims when removing the wheel with locks, since the lock typically needs a 19/21mm or 7/8's attachment.

One wheel lock per wheel is pointless, it takes 30 seconds to take off a wheel lock. (Simple breaking kit, hammer and bite lug. It is noisy though.)

Also don't get spline lugs confused with wheel locks, for some reason people seem to think that a spline lug is a wheel lock.
