upgrade to BA system?
Do you think it would be worth to upgrade my non BA system to the BA system, or just go with an aftermarket system?

For the cost/performance? Definitely aftermarket... Mine came with the BA system but if I'd gotten the 1SS I was looking at it would have been aftermarket all the way. Many threads on this topic, just do a quick search.

NO, the Rev limiter is not set to 118MPH... and YES, driving in this manner does affect MPG... |

aside from the inflated pricing of just the actual components to get the BA parts.. I would imagine it requires a different harnness running from the head unit up front to the amplifier in the rear left quarter. the issue with this harness is that it is all run within the main body harness that runs back... replacement harness would not be cheap.
Aftermarket will get you better sound for as much or less than the expense of retro fitting the ba system in.

I like the BA system in mine, just need to add a sub. Since you dont have the BA system, aftermarket is the way to go.

Yes crutchfield is a good source of info, however with a little bit of research I personally think you can find a much better price point.

The BA system is nice, its a great factory system but for what it would cost to convert, but you can do it cheaper and just as good if not better aftermarket.

Use Crutchfield to find the equipment you want to put in your car and then look elsewhere. PM me if you want a good website for ordering stuff. Cheapest prices I've ever seen.
I personally think the BA system is a sweet setup, just needs a sub like Moriartii said.

crutchfield is a great source. be careful of a lot of online "stores" if they are not authorized to sell the gear then you may have trouble actually getting what you ordered, or if something goes wrong getting it warrantied.
