New Two-Tone Vinyl'd Boxes

Many of you have been wanting a box that is a little more upscale than our standard carpeted boxes. So we've been working the past week or so on a new box design that looks more custom but maintains the many of the features found on the standard box.

What we did was take our normal dual box and add some fitted trim pieces that contour the trunk of the car on the sides. We added a cutaway section around each sub and in the middle. In the center cutaway space, we added a stock SS emblem to give an example of what can be done in this space. But certianly this would be left up to the individual to use whatever decal or emblem that was desired. We wrapped the face of the box in light gray vinyl and we did the trim pieces in a darker carbon fiber look. I thought carbon look would be cooler than a standard plain dark gray.

On the 12" box we have to do the trim in 4 separate pieces. For dual 10s, I think we could do the darker piece in 1 section.

I've had a few guys with other color cars asking about these and color matching on the vinyl. But keep in mind, this is my personal car and it's cybery gray. I can match my own paint quite easily, but I don't claim to have matches for any other color--unles we are supplied with something to match against. This would be no different than me asking if YOU can match my cyber gray if you happen to drive a different color car. So the uphill task is the color matching and for that I need your guy's help. I'm not a body shop so throwing a paint code at me doesn't do me any good either.

I apologize that the photos are a little dark. My car is in storage for the winter and not blessed with very good photo lighting in there. Anyway, here's a couple more pics. As you can see, the trim pieces contour the sides of the trunk real nice.

This is the box with the trim pieces removed. They just snap on and off. But you can see that this is the same as our dual box with vinyl on the face. I know it looks white, but it's really a light gray shade on the box portion. I can imagine some really neat color combos for this box besides what I have done here.

Anyhow, Let me know what you think..

DAMN! nice

is there anyway this could be retrofitted to the standard box for those of us that already have them? Like a panel you put on front?

I've been thinking about that. I believe it could be done--only the trim would have to be attached differently. The trim in the example is held on by some grill guide snaps. What we do is align the pieces and drill a pilot hole thru the trim piece and into the box. That way both ends of the guide line up when applied. Naturally the carpeted boxes wouldn't have this. So the trim would likely have to be fastened on with screws.

I'm thinking a trim piece like this could integrate nicely into a carpeted box with some chrome button head fasteners in symmetric locations around the outside.
