Subs - 10", 12" or two 10"

I am interested in putting in some bass with my BA factory system. I pm's Steve with ******** and he suggested I might be good with a stealth enclosure. I thought I would also ask here.

I am not looking for anything crazy, I like rock, pop, and techno/electronica. I want sharp and clear not loud and attention drawing.

I am a bit more partial to a set up that goes in the pass through area versus that sides. Could I do a set up in the pass through area with just one sub?

Thoughts/recommendations?

Cheers
K

I have two 10" Fosgates with a kicker amp. I'd have to look at the amp to tell you the exact model. I had a VW GTI before the camaro didn't want a lot of bast to rattle everything lose so I got the two 10's and they had a very crisp bass. As soon as I have the dough I'm going to tuck one in each side of the Camaro's trunk and hope they sound just as good as they did in the hatch back VW

NO, the Rev limiter is not set to 118MPH... and YES, driving in this manner does affect MPG...

I have a 12' JL w3v3 in a ported box with new speakers all around, and 2 Rockford Fostgate amps, I suggest a 12" ported, sounds really nice but since you don't listen to rap, Im not sure if you should port it. But do you have a bugget? Also, you can do a stealth box, but its pricey, also 1 12" wont take up alot of room. I have my amps on the back of my seats,so Its perfect, I also have opened up a 10" box to 12" size, because I could fit a 12" ported box,I reccomend you do that

I have the base audio system and just added a 10" sub in a sealed box. Sounds great!

I'd recommend a single 10, sealed. Should be more then enough to take care of what you are after. Get something that can handle between 300-500wrms, give it that much power, and you'll be happy. If it's not enough, you can port the 10 and gain, in theory, 3db over the sealed setup which, again in theory, is twice as loud.

No reason why you can't put a single sub in the pass through area, with a 10 sealed, you should have the room to mount the amp right next to it!

Let us know what you choose!

10" ******** with side enclosure, 250Watt amp is perfect!

I wanted to keep my pass through. If you want more power, go with a single 12" and bigger amp.

I'm Very happy with my system! GF always comments about her door shaking

How about changing the 6x9s(size?) in the rear to 6x9 free air woofers. I know Kicker use to make them..hmmmm..just a thought.

If you aren't looking for "make you ears bleed" bass, a single 10" (given the right manufacturer) is more than enough. That's what I have in my car. I recommend Infinity, I've been using them forever, but a lot of people like JL. If you decide to go the Infinity route, this is an awesome 10" sub for a great price:

Here are some pics of my install. This is before I put in the subwoofer I linked to. I don't like any wires showing.

The problem with the camaro is that when you add a sub you have to be carefull because with the back seats up you are trapping all the bass in your trunk and you might get alot of rattle. When I decide to do my audio I will replace the 2 6x9's in the back with 2 8" JL w7's. that way all the bass is in the car and alot less rattle in the trunk if any.

I'm putting in 3 Subs and 3 Amps, and replacing all of the stock Boston's with Infinity's, etc etc. I should have it finished by the end of next week. I'll post some pics and especially tell you how it sounds. (Yes I'm leaving the stock radio).
