O2 sensor help
The Kooks LT tubes are on order! I'm planning on replacing all four O2 sensors rather than wrenching on the more than likely siezed units in the stock system. I'd rather buy four new ones than break one or two . Plus, this will make the header install and later reinstall of the stock system easier.
Can anyone provide the GM part numbers for the O2 sensors on a L99? GM parts prices tend to vary from dealer to dealer and I want to find a fair price. |

If you want to save some money, get some GM Heat Valve Lubricant. Part # 01052627. I've never used a better penetrating oil. Put a little on each the day before while the pipes are still warm. Put some on the next day while the pipes are warm. Let sit for a few hours, then take it for another drive to get the warm again, put a little more Heat Valve Lubricant on there, and start loosening while the pipes are still warm.
I've taken tons of them out that way and most of the time, especially if the car is fairly new, they will come right out. Trying them stone cold and no penetrating oil can often tear the threads right off. Also, use an 02 socket. Heat Valve Lube, an 02 socket, and doing it warm - I'll give you high odds at perfection. Stone cold with an open end wrench - often just tears up the threads. |

I appreciate everyone's input. In my case the nearest GM dealer is over an hour away. It's best to have everything on hand before starting a job or I end paying wasting 1/2 day plus paying a premium price. Now to find an O2 socket.

I don't think any O2 are cross threaded. Thread galling with stainless steal is the prob.Spray with Kano aerokroil before trying to loosen.Once it starts to come out spray more kroil in. Work senser in and out while spraying. They come right out.

Just had headers installed on mine and they came out nice and easy, no stripping, no crossthreading. mechanic said they were no problem at all.

The newgmparts.com site does not show a different p/n for L99 or LS3.
It looks like the post cat O2 sensor has been around for a few years and it's also used on the Escalade, Silverado, etc. I ordered the sensors Tuesday morning and specified 2-day delivery. They showed up yesterday (Thursday) so they didn't waste any time shipping them. |
