Is a cold air intake worth the money?

I'm considering purchasing a cold air intake for my 2011 V6 Vert, I'm looking for a bit more "umph" when I step on the gas (without spending $1,000). To anyone with a CAI in their V6, do you think it provides a noticeable change? If you guys think that it's worth the money, I'll probably end up buying it this week.

I appreciate all input,

Thanks, guys!

Yes, it's an easy mod to install and you will immediately notice a difference when you hit the gas. First thing I did to my car!

That brings me to my next question; which CAI do you guys think is the best? I want to make sure I pick the best possible model out there.

There is a thread on some HP #'s on some CAI. I would say the Injen is the most labor intensive. I bought it for the reason that it gets more true cold air. CAI makes one with a scoop that is very good also. A lot of guys went with Vararam and love it.

ABSOLUTELY!!!!! Our engines LOVE cold air so anything we can do to keep the air going in cooler really helps. Just do your research as all cold air intake systems are not created equal. Rotofab, Injen, Vararam & Cold Air inductions Inc are the most popular & highest rated (I hope I did not leave one out but I think those are the top ones). Each has it's own pros & cons & it partly depends on where you live & how you use your car as well as personal apperance preferences. I love my CAI inc with added Apex waterbottle relocation & scoop because the box is sealed & not against your felt hood pad (causing an indention) but can be seen through & is easy to open, the box is insulated & the tube ceramic coated helping keep engine bay heat out of the air, the filter is not down close to the ground increasing odds of ingesting water into the engine, I like how it looks & it performs well in independent testing. PM Apex Motorsports & he will post up a chart with all the stats from independent testing on various Cold air systems so you can compare. He is also great at helping you sort out what you want in your build, how you use your car & which system will meet your needs best. Good luck deciding. Here is a pic of mine.

CAI brand with a cold air scoop and washer bottle relocate- hands down biggest bang for your buck!

Contact Chase at Apex-Speed.com for a sweet package price.

A cold air intake makes a good difference on these cars. If you are looking for the best bang for your buck, I'd argue the Roto-Fab w/ washer bottle relocation is the ticket. The scoops don't do much in my opinion.. the gain really comes from simply relocating the washer bottle reservoir out of the path of air ingestion. Once the reservoir is out of the way, there is a clear opening right to the ground beneath the intake system.

Feel free to call, PM or email me anytime with questions.

Best regards,

Tyler

Beyond the engine benefits, adding a nice set up gives the engine compartment a much nicer overall look as well.

Yes, for sure get a cold air intake, they do quite nicely on the V6 models. Search around for the best option for you! Let me know if you need any help!

I have the CAI intake and I would go for the CAI or Rotofab intakes.

Here's an older pic of my engine, but it shows how nice the CAI intake looks.

I have a v6 vert also. I installed a CAI like the photo above. It's my only engine mod.

It sounds pretty wicked when accelerating and people look to see what kind of car that is.

Is it faster? Not really, to me at at least. But the exhaust has a little more sound too which is nice.
