Dot 4 or Dot 5.1 not sure

The car has been tracked 3 times already. It has 3300 miles on it. Same brake fluid. Need to change before Pocono at end of Aug. Do I just put in a cheep dot4 from pep boys or auto zone or get the more pricey fluid online like Motul RBF600 or ATE blue or Gold. I dont have a problem changing out fluid. If I use the Motul how may bottles shouldbi buy. They are 1/2 liter. Was also looking at Amsoil dot4.

Dot 4 is what is recommended in the Owners manual.
Amsoil Dot 4 is what I use.
I've replaced it once every year since 2010, and I do 4-5 track days a year. No issue.

DOT 3 is factory, it says it right on the reservoir cap, most DOT 5 stuff is not for use in ABS systems

DO NOT use Dot 5.1. I believe that has Silicone in it. Then you'll have to replace every rubber component in your brake system with new parts! Just get some Motul 600RBF. It is full synthetic DOT 4 and has very high boiling points both wet and dry.

Plenty of sponsors on here sell it. JDP Motorsports sells it. If you are looking to bleed your own brakes you could also look at buying a Motive Power bleeder. They also sell the Motul RBF600 and actually have one of the lowest prices I've seen for it.
You can check it all out at motives web site. Just search for motive power bleeder and you'll find their site.

Either of those. The ATE blue apparently can stain plastics (and is technically illegal for highway use in Florida because of its color).

Just to clarify, DOT 5.1 is not a silicone fluid.

DOT 5 (without the '.1') is, and it's that stuff that you don't want near a track car.

Don't know about the Motul, but Sam Strano's business (stranoparts.com) carries the ATE amber and also a Brembo fluid that exceeds DOT 4. He's in western PA and stuff I've ordered from him gets to NJ pretty quickly.

ATE Super Blue Dot 4. I've used that for years for track days. I just changed it once a year. If you alternate between the blue and the amber you can tell when you get all of it out when changing.

Thanks for clarifying this norm. I wasn't positive on 5.0 or 5.1 and I guess I should have searched more before replying.

I have used RBF600 for years, recently switched to Amsoil fluid in my 1le, and it seems to hold pretty good. As good or better then the Motul

Thanks. I ordered motor oil trans and diff fluid from amsoil. Everything came in two days ago. I cant believe the big debate over motor oils cannot find anywhere that one is better than another consistently. The only thing I see is mobile 1 is cheaper and eaiser to get.
