Look at the gunk in my catchcan

I got my oil changed today. I expected there to be oil in my catchcan & from another thread, expected it to look cloudy, but this stuff was really thick, grimy, and had gritty extra thick residue on the bottom. Pics don't show how truly gross it was, but I can tell you I am REALLY glad that mess is not in my engine!

it's normal (well normal ish). It's when you get water condensation inside the catch can which mixes with the oil. No worries.

How did you take a picture with one hand holding the can and the other showing the gunk?

I like how simple it is to clean out your can.

If you did not install one then you don't have one. They are not a OEM part. Do a search on catch can you can find everything there is to know about them.

If you ever blow a head gasket, that's what your engine oil will look like after the water mixes with it. Shortly after that, your engine will be toast.....

Glad this is in the catch can and NOT in the engine, and to Bill2129...EXACTLY!!! I don't care what type of oil is used, it will pick up condensation and it will distribute it throughout the engine causing internal rust and eventual engine failure. The lesson here is to change your oil at regular intervals. It's cheap compared to a new engine!!
