Cam recommendations?
So, full disclosure I am more familiar with cams for older vehicles, flat tappets Etc...
I have a 2010 L99, MBRP catback, CAI by C.A.I and catted ARH tubes. I am considering a cam upgrade but do not want the obnoxious cam lope, as this is more of a daily driver and not one sees the drag strip as often as I would like. Is there a cam out there that will give a 25 to 30 horse gain while maintaining the stock exhaust character? Smooth and baritone versus crackly/poppy? ask me to help build a 412ci or a 418ci and I am good, more modern engines and I am a touch out of my league |

PCM of North Carolina has a nice one that will fit what you're looking for (IMO).
http://www.pcmofnc.com/index.php/per...2x-050-114-lsa There's a ton of youtube videos with idle clips. |

You can still get a good sized cam. As a matter of fact I would recommend that you don't go too small. You can tune your lope to suit as long as you don't go huge. I can almost smooth my cam out with 10* of overlap by adding timing at idle. I would think at around 5* of overlap you should be able to get what you want. Respectable power, great driveability, and tame sounding.

SpeedIsLife I too have the MBRP 3 inch XP with long tubes and HF cats ( M 6 LS3 ). Doe's yours have the resonator center x pipe or the X pipe without . I have some drone at 1700 to 1900 with the X pipe center section . I love the very deep hollow sound with no rasp of the MBRP ,but could do with less drone between 1700 and 1900 .

You want a cam but don't want much cam lope?
That's like saying you want turbos but don't want them to boost.

no disrespect at all op because it is your car and your money but the main purpose of a cam is for power gain AND a nice choppy lope lol. Its like saying you want a 21 y/o cheer leader but fully clothed from neck to toe with a heavy winter coat on top.

I understand what he is saying ,he wants power not a choppy idle . Not everyone wants the same thing . More power with out advertizeing it . Speak softly ,but carry a big stick .

+1. Not everyone likes the lope and what comes with it.

A big cam will ruin drivability. I have a stock stall in my 5th gen and a big cam and I have to fight with the brakes when sitting in traffic.
