Ummm....LS1/2/3/4/6/7 all have plastic intake manifolds. It's a tried and true design. Less heat soak, less weight.... what the hell is the problem?

Right now I have a cast iron intake that probably weighs 45 pounds. Plastic is wayyy lighter and so it's better.
It's not like lunchbox plastic, it's designed for use with engines.

So is the plastic used in the LS intakes. It can still handle a ton of power.

If no one told you they was plastic and in 30-40 years you finally found out, would you still be acting this way? Fact of the matter is they are designed to last just as long or even longer then aluminum. If 10 year old plastic intakes are still like new and are capable of lasting another 20 years without being taken care of, I'm not worried one bit.

Dude. MY1997 LS1 Corvettes, some of which built in 1996, had plastic intake manifolds. They're holding up just fine. Plastic breaks down with age.......and in 10 years, you might start to see some of those 1997 plastic intakes wearing out. GM spends billions of dollars in engine design; especially for the engine going in their halo car. I think they've got a leg up on you. I know a guy with a 1998 C5 with 140k miles on it. 10 years and 140000 miles, and the stock manifold is still going strong. Do you plan on putting that many miles on your Camaro? If not, then stop worrying about it.

Yeah. Nothing wrong with a plastic Intake manifold. it's lighter and makes for better performance.

rofl my 97 chevy has a half aluminum half plastic intake, i have NEVER heard of them breaking think your giving it less credit then it deserves, and trying to swap it out to a cast iron one or something would jsut be a waste of time and money
