thats one of the big things with a diesel is that they make so much torque that you dont have to get on it hard to get moving. and you can actually get better mileage by going with some super swamper tires as well, torque + really tall wheels = easy mileage

I hope you can ride with someone that has the combo cause I have and the ride was CRAP.. These HD's need sidewall and good shocks or the ride is NO BUENO!! If you don't want to lift it consider a Cognito leveling kit with a pitman/idler brace. It beats cranking up the torsion bars. And if you can... Bilstein or Fox Shox will make it ride better than a Caddy. Check out DieselPlace.com for good info on GM HD's
I've ridden in a couple custom trucks with similar setups. most recent was an 06 GMC Sierra 3500 dually. drove it towing a 35ft boat a month before he swapped the wheels. helped him go pick his boat up a week or so ago after he put the new wheels on. much better. nowhere near as much deflection. Handling was increased as well. you could feel the road more, but you didnt have the reverberation of the road traveling thru the tires.

the "lift" is more of just a leveling kit. or potentially throwing in heavier torsion bars and stronger shocks in anticipation of the duramax swap

shocks will be replaced at some point. I've honestly been looking at a coilover conversion kit for the truck as well. but thats a luxury item that might have to wait till the duramax conversion happens.

for an idea of the overall stance I'm going for...

If you want that stance then the Cognito Leveling Kit is what you want. Check out these. Lots of leveled HD's. Check out DieselPlace and hit up Nor-Cal Nick. He's a good guy and will take care of you.

He's also on here as well (Nor-Cal Nick)

the stance isnt all that important right now. I'm working on fabbing up the underbody sheetmetal panels to seal off the underside of the truck from turbulent airflow. the only issue with a leveling kit is that I'm going to have to swap it all out when I drop the duramax into the engine bay. and I'm not one to replace parts twice. I'd rather swap over to a duramax front suspension setup now (which would raise the front of the truck just enough to look right due to the stronger springs + lighter engine combo) then mess with the leveling kit later.

Trust me, this aint my first rodeo.

Same leveling kit with either the 6.0 or 6.6 cause the suspension is the same.

She's staying 2wd. She is a long distance tow rig and support vehicle. in order to maintain a higher towing capability (even with the diesel swap), I'm sticking with 2wd. but the torsion bars are gonna be gone. I've actually found a few air bag kits for the front for a decent price along with adding airbags down the road to the rear to increase load capability
