Highway 1

Wife is wanting to cruise from San Diego to San Fran via the 1 over Veterans day weekend - anyone do this? or have any current info on the 1 that would be of use to me?

It's more interesting going SF to SD than SD to SF on PCH.
I did it both ways on my bicycle about 20 years ago.
Took me 9 days. You should be able to do it quicker in a car.

Just do it. It's a great ride no matter the direction.

Roughwaterjohn explained it perfectly from places to see to the current road conditions and highways to take.

sweet - thanks for the input... should be an adventure at any rate... You mentioned Goleta.. actually stopping there on the way, or way back to see some friends that moved there... Camaro is all gassed up, shiny and two new back tires... Good to GO! Golden Gate Bridge, here we come!

Hwy 46 is a lot of fun in a sports car.

I always stay in Embarcadero. Secure hotel parking there.

Try to get a room that faces the bay on an upper floor, the evening view is awesome.

If you really want to have a fun experience. Try riding a bicycle across the bridge. The wind can be nasty.

Thanks everyone. Visit was great, stayed at the Stanford in the Financial District. Drove across the bridge on Sat morning, then drove home. Great time...
